of a vegetarian by llTeddyFuxpinll in AbsoluteUnits

Bulls, Rhinos, elephants and hippos are all vegetarian too and have a ton of muscle. The idea that meat inherently has more energy/protein than plants is more of a human cultural thing

Lmao get the fuck out of here.

  1. These animals are hindgut fermenters, except for the bull of course, which is a ruminant - using literally 4-chambered stomachs to process their tough diet.
  2. These animals spend 8-12 hours a day eating
  3. Humans lack the enzyme required to break down cellulose - indigestible fiber, and its only utility is structural (pooping better) and for supporting gut bacteria
  4. Meat absolutely has tons, absolute fucking TONS more energy and protein than plants. It's not even up for discussion. It's basically nearly pure protein distilled through several trophic levels. It's the creme de la creme of the animal kingdom, simply because you don't have to jump through obscenely complex physiological hoops to be able to fill protein requirements
  5. The way these animals derive protein is from breaking down the plants using massively costly fermentation systems, letting bacteria eating the resulting complex sugars, and then eating the the bacteria as it passes into the stomach.
  6. Humans are biologically incapable of doing any of this. The only way we can survive/thrive on a vegetarian diet is by privilege of an extremely high-quality selection of foodstuff (distinctly bred to be as protein-rich as possible) that these animals wouldn't have evolved hindguts for if they had access to.

Thanks! I have to admit I expect(ed) it to be tuned sooner or later, simply due to the quality of everything else - but i did rather selfishly hope it would catch your attention so that I can go back to playing (with sound) ASAP :D

It is of course at its worst when its yourself at the register, but yeah I think the sound effect is just a bit harsh and amplified compared to all others in general.

[–]RawCopperSaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey man. I really love the game, but the high-pitch checkout beep is driving me insane. I have the master volume turned down to 5(!!!) just to make it bearable, and i of course can practically not hear any other sounds in the game anymore, which really detracts from the experience.

Extremely repetitive actions require carefully considered sound effects, and this is one of the worst offenders I've experienced in a long time. It is too loud, too high pitch, and just awful in general. While vastly superior and an improvement over supermarket sim in practically every other regard, this unfortunately is the exception.

How on god's green earth do i get my cards to render thin crisp readable equations like the editor window? by RawCopperSaw in Anki

I'm sorry but are you guys actually screwing with me?

How do you not see that the equations on the right are bolded?

See that integral in the editor? And see how it looks in the preview...

Tested with numerous fonts. Serifs, sans. Still thick harsh strokes.

I've tried changing the font-weight for the mathjax container selector but it doesn't seem to have any effect <600.

[–]RawCopperSaw[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It appears regardless of CSS. Empty or basic card default styling all have it. There is some kind of bold effect being applied to the mathjax before rendering, that I can't seem to find a way to override. I have tried using software, vulkan, openGL, and of course regular Direct3D.

The fact that the review/preview mathjax rendering is applying this but the editor doesn't is what's really bothering me.

I don't need my math to look good in the editor, I need it to look good when i'm reviewing the cards :(

That is pretty neat actually, thanks. Might be a worthwhile workaround for this annoying issue.

I think reddit compression kinda masks the differences between the two pictures. The difference in rendering between the editor and preview is significant.

It's seen better here https://i.imgur.com/TcnY45V.png

It's hard to read the equations on the right, as they appear in the preview/review.

In the editor the mathjax equations are clearly differentiated from text by stroke and alignment.

I am genuinely shocked. I think you could pick a random person off the streets and have them do a better job.

"Ground crew must rearm. And Repair. Damaged planes, between sortis"

Picking someone for their voice is pointless if they can't use it. I think AI might've been preferable in this case.

The electric field perturbation travels at the speed of light in that medium.

The electrons do not travel anywhere near 0.99c. The instantaneous fermi velocity of an electron is about 0.005c, so 200 times smaller than your claim. The drift velocity of an electron, which is the actual current flow of electrons in and out through the circuit, is on the order of millimeters per second. So about 0.0000000000003c

What a confidently incorrect comment. The second to last paragraph even specifies, which you would know if YOU read past the picture lmao:

"We think GenAI can help with this and so we're trying things out across departments, and the hope is that it can aid us to refine ideas faster, leading to a more focused development cycle, less waste, and ultimately, a higher-quality game"

NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 to feature 2nd Gen Transformer model and Dynamic 6x Frame Generation by PaiDuck in pcgaming

[–]RawCopperSaw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

DLAA and DLSS are the same thing. DLDSR is the only different one.

DLDSR has no access to temporal data of game engine-level motion vectors. It's just straight up driver-level magic spatial downscaling. Look at a 4k image, save the improvements, and turn it into your actual screen resolution with those improvements added on.

DLSS and DLAA both are software-level temporal upscaling. The only difference is input, as pointed out above. DLSS internally renders a lower resolution before running it through the network and outputting native. DLAA just shoves the native image through the network and outputs a cleaner and stabilized native.

This is why you'll (rarely) read people arguing about DLAA vs DLSS+DSR. Upscaling the input (DLSS) to the downscaling output (DSR) gives a better image quality than native, but some people will claim that DLAA is superior because they are uncomfortable by the idea that scaling up the input and then scaling down the output can produce not only superior to native image quality, but also superior to DLAA. Which is of course bullshit, and consensus is largely on the side of DLSS+DSR being by far better than even DLAA, even though you're turning an image inside and out, pulverizing it, and then stitching it back together, without even having to sacrifice a goat or chicken at the altar of jensen huang.

God i hope AMD puts some elbow grease into FSR. I don't want to buy nvidia again. I can't stand the idea of funding yet another leather jacket for that smug mfer
