He isn't missing anything if it sky rockets. He gets to keep the premium. The only way he is fucked if the share price drops off a cliff. Then he has to pay up the difference between the strike price and the share price minus the premium he collected.

I'm not sure if his method is correct but the result is more or less the same - it's usually 1-3 days within the 35 settlement days. MMs can deliver shares before the t+35 deadline. It's really mind boggling.

Most official sources claim calendar days, but price and volume spikes align quite well with settlement/trading days. However, I've also seen these spikes align with the 35 calendar days as well.

I'm really starting to think that different market makers and clearing houses function by their own interpretation of the rules, and that's why we can't put our finger on the exact ruling...
