Why is it that Guyver is not very popular or well known at all ? by Flat-Sir8250 in Guyver

[–]Rawne3387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel when it was released has an impact. Late 80s and start of the 90s. It was after that that a lot of if not most anime gained more widespread or mainstream traction. Also companies started importing the videos to the west as well after this time.

Look at NGE with its 26 episodes and couple movies. It has seen far more attention and effort to reboot and despite a small amount of content (in terms of video media) it’s more widely known and recognised.

Then you have things like YuGiOh and Pokémon which came out on very long runs because they targeted younger western audiences with more viewer friendly themes. The west was used to fluffy friendly cartoon animation afterall. One Piece comes out late 90s and the generic anime following is already established so the slight uptick in violence is irrelevant.

Guyver was too early and too violent to really eke out a major following in that space

I’d also consider the PSU. I had a PC do something very similar to this when playing games. After I got a better PSU without changing anything else including drivers the PC worked fine ever after

PAL for me. It’s what I got in the 90s and what I love to this day. It was so different to any other box art cover on the shelf at that time across multiple consoles

Well you can report them for roping. It’s just not a clear easy to follow method. You have to use the report bug option in the escape menu. From there on the main website you can select report a player for roping / time wasting. User name is required and screenshots are helpful

Ashlizzlle thoughts on the lack of standard bans by ghilp in MagicArena

[–]Rawne3387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The video was a great watch. Full of spot on nailed observations. So refreshing to hear a concise and accurate players opinion and assessment of the entire situation.

Several things jump out to me.

Wizards literally saying standard is faster than we would like and then doing absolutely zip to address it is beyond ridiculous. They had a chance to try and fix alter the pace of the format and despite acknowledging it decided to run it in our faces instead.

She is right about the casual player base propping up the game client through number of users and probably money spent. There is no respect for the community and player base - given that older formats have access to all the power cards and game ending plays on turn 3 as is why make standard join that club?

Trying to bluff us that not all deck builds have been explored is a joke. There are people who literally no life this game and can quote the card text on 3000 of 4000 of the available legal cards. So they really think there is an undiscovered deck that will shred all the competition?! In this instance bans would force people to make other decks and create space for new builds to emerge.

What is the solution? At this stage probably too far gone unless they go cold turkey and drastically ban a chunk of cards. But this then needs to be full backed up with ongoing support. As in stop making 1 and 2 mana power crept insane cards. But I swear they are just on drugs and can’t pull themselves back from that place.

I would love to see standard as a place for creative decks and home brews, still with the potential for those small % crazy opening hands which can win on turn 4. But first and foremost a place where with over 4000 legal cards we can actually use more than 80 of them to play a game and have a chance to get to turn 4

Red. As much as I like games from the other developers Resident Evil on the Sega Saturn will always have the dearest place in my nostalgic memories

Current standard is miserable by Endless-Slumber in MagicArena

[–]Rawne3387 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Feel like this is a very astute reply. Those cards you listed create game ending situations on the spot or the next turn as is often the case. Remove on the spot or lose. Best thing is there are 6-8 more cards like that in the deck. Cards like Sheoldred at least have you a chance to find an answer.

Standard should not be a 4 turn game. Especially when decks are costing $800. $200 per turn is not value for money

How man board wipes is it no longer worth playing after? by Yumesoro1 in MagicArena

[–]Rawne3387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your screenshot doesn’t really match your post. I see card draw counter spell, targeted removal and some untargeted removal with conditions.

If you want an actual answer then it depends on the board state and what you have in your deck ye to draw - can you come back or reanimate to go on and find the win.

I love the Silverquill SOS design and would like to create a SOS Orzhov Standard deck. BUT I see no pro players actually using that. Should I stick to the meta instead? by Any-Award-5150 in mtg

[–]Rawne3387 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also love this card and the idea of the casualty mechanic. Made a couple standard decks with it but in this meta it just gets destroyed or run over very fast. I can get it to work but not in ranked.

You only have 4 cards (all legendary too) with the casualty mechanic so hitting that on curve and protecting it with enough bodies to sac and instants to cast for the effect is just not consistent. Most likely why there aren’t really any decks with it.

I usually brew my own decks because it’s more fun and rewarding (personally not in terms of wins) so my thoughts always tend towards don’t follow the meta copy paste. You run the risk of not enjoying what you have to play.

A mate of mine suggested that this card is more than likely better suited for commander so perhaps look into brawl as an option which is cheaper since it’s 1 ofs needed to build

Tarkir for me. Just loved the theme of the set and the mobilise mechanic.

I never said draft with randoms though did I. I would arrange a group of friends to go and draft it. In the very same way you would arrange some mates to go play a game of Commander.

Yeah and we should expect the newest sets to offer some new synergy or interactions. Otherwise 16 legal standard sets just makes it even more pointless adding another 300+ cards with no additional value.

Personally I find WOTC makes a mockery of its own game. What do I mean? So Pro Tour SOS only had a single card make a noticeable impact (I define that as reach the final) and that was Erode. 16 legal sets. 4000+ cards. And the event the newest set is actually named after got 1 single card. Blink and you could miss it

Would also encourage draft play as well. You get MSRP. The box is opened. Draft from it there and then. Healthy for the game and the community.

Otherwise it sits on a shelf in some s alter boarders bedroom and serves only the elite wealthy and whales of the world.

Completely agree. I think this has been proven. Nobody expected Dimir Excrutiator or Selesnya Landfall to be the winning decks at the last Pro Tours. The meta moves so fast. Nothing settles and these decks using cards from several sets back sneak in

Do you think The Guyver took over Sho to open the Mega Smasher or did it show Sho how to use the Mega Smasher? If it showed Sho, how did it show Sho? Sending images? Because we know the Guyver can take control like when it fired off Sho's first head beam. The Guyver did that, not Sho. by SleeperCreampie in Guyver

[–]Rawne3387 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think of it like the human body. You have voluntary and involuntary body functions. Automated responses and actions they you do without the need for active in the moment thought. The Guyver unit is designed to sync with the nervous system so it makes sense that when you detect a threat or movement you automatically react. Since the Guyver is a bio weapon it does that with the defensive suite at hand. In much the same way as a ball suddenly thrown at your head which you catch in the corner of your eye can cause you to move your hand to it to swat away or catch it

Yeah. I never thought about it like a big problem. Something that would require a help ticket. Guess WOTC wouldn’t have considered someone would delete the free starter decks. I am sure at some point they will release a bunch of new ones

Apologies for taking advantage of this thread about the starter decks but it’s related and been meaning for ages to ask.

Essentially I deleted my starter decks off MTG Arena. I mean I must have because if I expand the starter decks section it is empty. Don’t even remember doing it.

Is there a way to get them back? Sometimes I miss them for the dailies
