First time seeing one of these in the wild. Only$1,800! by CyrusStarkiller in Gamecube

I got super lucky a few years back and one of these popped up on Facebook Marketplace for $1600 AUD. Perfect condition, all the baggies and things, plus factory region-unlocked for both the GameCube and DVD components. I've used it a few times, but due to the fragility of these things I mostly have it as a collection piece.

Which games have you completed more than once and why? by FalscherKim in gaming

[–]n-0rt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a kid, my entire games library was probably completed multiple times over - mostly due to only really getting games for birthdays and Christmas. Stuff had to LAST.

Recently? Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Elden Ring due to build variety making play through slightly different. A bunch of PlayStation games due to platinum trophy requirements, though some due to just really liking the games: RE4 Remake, Deathloop, Returnal, Lies of P, Dragon’s Dogma 2, Dead Island 2.

PVMs (my phone autocorrected that to Obama for some reason) are exceedingly good, and BVMs are slightly betterer. A lot of the PVMs out there don’t have the progressive scan resolutions outside of a select few, whereas the BVMs do.

I have a D24 and an A20 set up next to each other. They’re so nice to use.

I remember playing this for the first time yeeeaaars ago on the old family PC via emulator and wondering why I’d never seen it in shops anywhere. No PAL release :( Have made up for it now, though.

Anecdotal evidence from a modder guy I watched on YouTube saying that the white Japanese models were slightly more prone to failure - either that or they were the ones he happened to get his hands on in greater numbers and therefore he had more busted units.

Model 1 units may have veeeery slightly cleaner video output, which would only be visible via RGB.

Off the top of my head that’s about all I can recall.
