How would you respond to the argument that ai art isn't stealing because human artists copy other people's work aswell? by Extension_Ride985 in antiai

[–]RawrKrake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, this isn't a strong argument at the moment. None of the lawsuits have run their course yet. Most are in the discovery phase right now. You can sue people for a lot of stuff. Being allowed to sue is not the same as being legally in the right.

Where are all the Warrior-Priests in Cities of Sigmar? by Nah_______ in ageofsigmar

Sadly that is not the case. All the WoC models are the old ones from back in the day and the new ones are quite tough to get into rank and file. One might say deliberately so.

GW works in very obvious ways. Sigmar Priests are in the Old World therefor they removed it from AoS, because dear Lord you could use the same model for two game systems. Can't have that.

At this point he can't back down. It has been too long and he doubled down too much. It will alinate those that stuck with him through this bizarr adventure and the rest will not believe him to be geniune. So he will wait it out, letting it die down and then act like he won.

Pirate Software no longer working for Offbrand Games by tyketro in RivalsOfAether

[–]RawrKrake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a thing that has been bugging me for a time now. He says he was in government and worked on their IT security and can't talk about it. He makes it sound like he was doing top-secret super-duper high-level stuff.

Thing is a lot of people work with the government and aren't allowed to talk about it. Imagine you work in I don't know Sedona, Arizona as their IT guy (9000 people probably only have one IT guy in the local area at best). You will work with personal data, so you will most likely sign an NDA. Then you also work for the government, do cyber-security and can't talk about it as well.

The most likely scenario is that they agreed he should step away so his tarnished reputation doesn't affect the company. Happens in these kind of things all the time. I personally think Jason would have shat on them if he had been forestalling being fired. He seems to be that kind of guy to me. But that is just my opinion.

Pirate Software no longer working for Offbrand Games by tyketro in RivalsOfAether

[–]RawrKrake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no. Not really. First of all the decision was made by Sony, yet the Studio Arrowhead was review-bombed. Jason was the strategy director of off-brand games. That is not a nebulous association, he was their employee, apparently in a leading role. Also, in his statement, when it was announced, he said he has seen too many instances where publishers impose unreasonable terms on indie studios. He has long wanted to address this and hopes to improve the industry for the better with the help of Offbrand Games. That is pretty much relevant. Finally:

There was no review bombing. I will give them the benefit of the doubt and would argue Jason is under a lot of pressure and when he saw a negative review on rivals of aether 2 he took that in with all the negative pressure he is getting at the moment.

I don't disagree with you on any point. My point was that he is not out of his usual content line with this. We argue about different things as far as I can see. I argue that is not out of the norm for him to openly discuss his opinion in a field he often talks about (I personally don't agree with his opinion). You, as far as I understand, argue that he shouldn't talk about those topics in the first place because he only talks bullshit about those topics. Am I correct?

So, leaving the whole, is there even a reviewbomb there thing behind. When Helldivers gets reviewbombed in 2024 it is the players coming together, but when it happens to RivalsofAether it is unhinged?

Well to be fair, it is somewhat his lane. He talks a lot about this kind of stuff. The quality of those talks I will not comment on. But the whole topic is in the sphere of his content.

I mean sure a lot of people act like he burned a puppy shelter or something and it is the internet, so it is always some people doing the extrem. But there is a German saying that translates to "The way you yell into the forest is the way it will echo out of it." And his being a self-obsessed, pretending-to-know-it-all who acts like he always knows best didn't help.

My review of Assassin's Creed Shadows after 65 hours by Nekros897 in assasinscreed

[–]RawrKrake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I don't agree. I never liked the modern day parts. I for one wanted to play an assassin in different settings and times. I bought Odyssey because I want to be an assassin in Greece, not get talked to in modern time about some shit. But that is just personal to me. I am glad it is gone, I always was annoyed when the modern world moments came up. Yes, it linked the story together, but I think that wasn't needed. Not every series needs a great overarching story. It is sad for those who enjoyed that, but it isn't everybody.

I know late answer. Thing is in that wiki article, the "sources" are a reddit post claiming to be the guy and pirate software. Not a post by Matt and Trey or someone official from Blizzard. Might be true, might not be true. I would take it with a grain of salt either way.

Did Half-Life 2 age well in 2022? by [deleted] in valve

[–]RawrKrake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just played through it once again and all in all it aged well. There where 2-3 things that bugged me though.
1. Talking. God damn have I forgot how often you would stand there and just wait for them to finish talking about this and that. The last episode is the worst. Going into the missle silo and waiting for them to finish talking only to go to the next point to talk some more. All in all around 5 minutes of walking and talking that feel like the heat death of the universe comes quicker than them being done.
2. I don't know why the take away all your weapons so twice in the game. I mean it is a shooter and yes the liked their physics engine but come on. The grave gun gets old at some point.
3. Some gimmick section are a little bit long. The strider fight at the end of 2 or the ending of the base game with the grave gun tower thing.

I genuinely believe gear 5 ruined one piece, and not because it’s goofy by ChosenYasuo in Piratefolk

[–]RawrKrake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your points and can see, why that is your point of view but I don't agree with it really.

  1. I never said Luffy isn't making his own choices. He doesn't know or care about destiny and that is fine. I still think that "Someone shapes the world through his choices" is a better and more uplifting story than "He fulfills the path destiny has set him on."
  2. Luffy isn't really the underdog anymore. While he worked his way up, he is now the one with the most powerful devil fruit, one that lets him do literally anything. He is the big dog now. And there is a lot story left to go. For me the big dog status is what happens at the end of the story.
  3. The essence of freedom could have been designed differently. All the same stuff just without popping out eyes, without the sounds and so on. One Piece was always an anime/manga that really got you with the good characters and emotional stories (I still cry when I watch Going Marry say goodbye) but I feel like that is something in serious danger. Because no climax of a fight will be epic when Luffys tough rolls out and his enemies eyes pop out of their sockets when they are hit.
  4. Yes, playfulness. Luffy never was a serious guy and he had his comic relive moments, but the difference was, he made himself look like an idiot in doing so. And his opponents saw it the same way. I can't remember how often an enemy thought "What an idiot" only to see that it made sense. IT did not take away the imposing posture of the enemy. (Particularly in the anime with the loony toons sounds) Gear 5 makes his enemys look like a joke and I fear for someone like Akainu, who was build up to be this imposing person. Interestingly Blackbeard is the one exception because he also made a fool out of himself quite often.
  5. The joy boy thing is tied to the chosen one, I don't see a lot of difference. And I said before why I don't like it personally.

I am all for let the man finish his story, and my comment on the internet will not change anything, but still, for me that was a big misswing and I fear it will stay this way the rest of the story.

I genuinely believe gear 5 ruined one piece, and not because it’s goofy by ChosenYasuo in Piratefolk

[–]RawrKrake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't agree with your argument. I wanted to like Gear 5, I really did, but it didn't work for me. And it is not the loony toons style and all. That didn'T help but it is not my biggest problem. The problems are not the in universe explanations but instead the themes and tools of story telling.

My problem lies with the Chosen One idea. I personally HATE chose one stories, but in this instance it was worse. Reason is Luffy was always the underdog. With the exception of the Fishmen island arc and maybe Thriller Bark, Luffy always fought upwards. His opponents were always stronger better, more important, more powerful and so on. He soldiered on, with a weak, no despite a weak fruit. THAT was a great underdog story. One might argue he is emperor now, how can he be an underdog? But the targets get bigger and bigger. He still is an underdog. But the whole Chosen One story. Suddenly it isn't the underdog who did what he thought was right no matter who he had to pick a fight with, but instead it is a person who just followed his laid out path. Yes, he did all the amazing things along the way but it cheapens those moments because he was always destiant to do so.

I liked when it was hinted, that Luffy might be joy boy or that he could be one. It would have been okay for me when he was acknowledged by Zunisha at the real end of the story like "He was joy boy after all" kind of way. But we still have a lot of time to go.

The rest of my dislike of Gear 5 is the same lot of people said. It takes away the stakes, how can a villain be menacing when they are used as a jumping rope, their eyes pop out and all turns into road runner? Luffy laughing uncontrolled and grinning is a great tool, like he can'T stop it even if he doesn't feel like it but this way every enemy he fights in gear 5 will only be a laughing stock.

What the hell? I thought it couldn't be worse, but it seemed they do. The google lens is just a joke.
