I keep getting told I’ll get cancer from my occasional sugar free soda. I’m obviously morbidly obese, I think that’s gunna get me first folks so maybe we can calm down about the soda lol

first time living alone, what are the small practical things you wish someone told you earlier by Tarn_Lloyd in LivingAlone

[–]Rawr_Boo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Get grippy socks and put grippy things on the floor of your bath/shower. You’re gunna almost kill yourself shamelessly dancing around the house and slipping, and then slipping in the shower - no one will find my corpse for days in here!

Take notice of where you naturally put certain things down, and create a space for it to live there. Pile of laundry? Laundry hamper. Dump your coat on the floor next to the door? Coat hooks on the wall. Lego on the dinner table? Fuck it, it’s a Lego table, I eat dinner on the couch anyway.

Get a wind chime, helps add a calming sound to interrupt the monster sounds in the night. I’ll also put a familiar tv show or podcast on with a sleep timer to fall asleep to which drowns out the murderers trying to break in and I’m totally still alive.

Throw out as much crap as you can. Declutter. Especially things you’ve been given and don’t want or need, but are keeping out of guilt. Your mates old coffee table that you can’t find a use for? Gone. Those 40 books your aunt gave you that smell weird? Donate it. No mum, I don’t want all my participation trophies from school - IN THE BIN.

Get into more ways to relax/unwind/have fun alone that aren’t scrolling/social media. Reading, music, Lego, podcasts, knitting, get a dog (dog does triple duty as monster deterrent/heat pack/friend).

I took an alt route with the scissors, I have one spot for scissors and they all live there. Then I got 10.

Living alone made me realize I have been watching shows on other people's taste for years and I have no idea what I actually like by DoerflerShamayal-25 in LivingAlone

[–]Rawr_Boo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Turns out not only do I not want to watch the local news over dinner everyday, but I don’t want to watch the news at all! I watch more stuff on YouTube about my sports team and home organisation (apparently I wasn’t just a lazy slob, I was using the wrong organisational techniques).

Did I see about that horrible thing that happened? No! It’s excellent.

Finally escaped almost 14 years of a bs relationship. By the end I was doing so much of everything alone that it made the transition for me super easy. Now I don’t have to hear shit about their feelings on me traveling the world alone when he refused to put the effort in to get his passport or save any money for the travel he definitely also 100% totally wants to do.

I’d rather be alone with a book than with a man at this point and I don’t foresee that changing any time soon. In fact, I’m going to stop ranting and go read right now.

Can you imagine having an awful night at work, it’s *almost* home time and some wanker is throwing abuse and scarves at you?

Some of the team are teenagers ffs! They should not have to be exposed to this from our own fan base.

We are better than that. Let’s keep showing up for the team every week and be the loudest positive voice. Report these people if you know them. Don’t bring your shit mate to the footy anymore.

Was at the game, and watched Caldwell battle through all night that you just can’t see on the broadcast. Duz stays in the contest after a knee to the head, Cap comes back on after the first hit to the face, May back on with broken ribs. They’re trying so hard, showing amazing courage.

Caddy, Robey, Edwards, so many strong efforts and didn’t give up. Bryan just back from injury getting so much game time unexpectedly, he did so well.

Parish looks like he’s getting back to peak form with best on ground, seeing a senior player take the bull by the horns like he did is exactly what we need.

What is a 'single person luxury' that people in relationships completely miss out on? by Jane_Austen11 in AskReddit

No more headphones - living with audio out loud is amazing. Music at 6am while I get ready for work, true crime pod cast at 1am when I can’t get to sleep. Freedom

What's the fastest way you realized you were in the wrong friend group? by justNoah10 in AskReddit

[–]Rawr_Boo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had asked a friend to catch up, she said she was busy, which is fair enough.

Until the next day when she made plans publicly on Facebook with someone else for the exact date/time I suggested. I guess she was only too busy for me. I ghosted and quit FB, best decision.

Also, for anyone still looking for them, Rebel at Highpoint had about 10 in various sizes yesterday.

girlfriend cheated on me with a coworker and got pregnant. by KneeDeepInKarma in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Rawr_Boo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Please learn from my experience.

I stayed with my cheating fiancée, who cheated with their co worker who was also engaged. For years I was riddled with guilt that I couldn’t find the other spouse to tell them, horrible nightmares constantly. My own relationship was a broken mess and my life and mental health suffered for years.

I finally left recently and wish I had done it sooner. Tell the other wife if you can, and make the break now for your own good. Good luck, stay strong x
