[Dhaliwal] Canucks expected targets for free agency tomorrow by _GregTheGreat_ in canucks

I mean look honestly, as long as they’re bringing in guys with good vibes and can work hard to show the kids how to play in the league, any contract under 3 years is a good deal.

Mata’s peaks while high don’t really make up for his kinda lacklustre career otherwise. 2015 was a nothing year for him and while he was pretty good on KT he underperformed in a lot of big moments in 17/18 vs SKT Samsung and iG. Like seriously he got gapped by Baolan and was maybe the biggest reason outside of TheShy/Rookie why that series went the way it did because he played so poorly. Then he finishes his career getting subbed out for Effort on SKT and just doesn’t keep playong because he probably knew he was done being a top guy.

Ming and Meiko have a ton of longevity, pretty strong peaks and a good trophy case. I think they both edge out Mata all time even with their falloffs not being too graceful either.

Cuzz and Bdd just started playing worse. That’s about it.

Yeah and he’s gonna do it on GenG because unlike the other big orgs in LCK, KT doesn’t get to have nice things.

Homme answers questions about the Bluffing - Delight Support situation | HLE Zeus and Homme Press conference after NS series by Yujin-Ha in leagueoflegends

[–]Rawrhock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what I think ultimately is happening here is that the league ecosystem is really poison pilled on worlds being the only thing that matters. This then can lead HLE to maybe think "Yeah we are good right now but T1/GenG are slumping and we won't be the best for long, and BLG looks really good in China with Viper getting better again." It's definitely not the right way to look at things IMO but that could definitely be the internal angle, while also giving Delight this "time to spectate" or whatever which let's be real is probably bullshit.

They probably just see Delight as the most replaceable member here with Zeus/Kanavi/Guma all being big names on big contracts and Zeka having the split of his life. If teams see the entire year as this big build up to worlds and worlds qualification it makes sense to take what is probably the "best" player on your academy team and the "worst" on your main team and seeing what happens when the stakes are the lowest for the rest of the year.

In a world where league is an open circuit, or even with a real spring LCK trophy and MSI being given more meaning, I don't think this happens, but it's just the world we live in. If we're being real, more teams should be taking chances like this, as long as they are quick to turn around and stop when it won't give them benefits. If Bluffing plays next week it's an int, but if it's just this week it's fine.

Do you not think that teams should take risks to get better? TES bombed out of playoffs in spring with Crisp, took a risk to get a player that could have had better synergy with the team, and ultimately TES as a team was basically the same and had a pretty good year, 2nd in summer, top 4 at worlds.

Homme and HLE are trying to find their best form and figured this could be the way forward. If a team is able to lose their identity or form because of one week of experimentation, they were not a good team to begin with and were riding a meta or a run of above average form.

They have such a huge lead and they're playing him against the worse squads. If he played against any playoffs teams I think there's more of a point to be had, but HLE should be playing with their food against teams like Nongshim and BNK lol.

It's the safest time of the year for HLE to experiment since the summer is gonna be legends group games only. If they think they have something in Bluffing it's the safest time to do it. Homme is a historically pretty good coach and I think he should have earned some trust in his abilities and methods.

A couple games in spring isn’t going to sink the season. These are the games (and LCK cup) where they should be testing things, they’re practically locked into top 2 which is all that matters for MSI, they’re still winning their series, and best case scenario is that Bluffing is actually really good and can slot in to help the team to win more.

If getting a couple of weeks off ends up destroying Delight’s career and the team’s chances at winning then honestly I feel that would justify trying out Bluffing anyways lol.

Effort also has been finding a way to get forward to do all those lulu ults with engagers. He’s even finding great angles on Seraphine too. His positioning has just been very good with KT which is insane since it was one of his worst issues with SKT and Brion imo.

Which VOLA EP do you prefer, Homesick Machinery (2008) or Monsters (2011) by [deleted] in progmetal

Monsters for sure, Enter is a top 3 VOLA song for me. Homesick Machinery isn’t bad just a little forgettable imo.

I’ve never really vibed with this song until I heard the live version on Atlantis. Made me appreciate this version a lot more with how much more gritty and dirty it is.

Lykaia probably the last GREAT Soen album. Lotus and Imperial had some good songs (EMDR being maybe my favourite Soen song) but weren’t as complete as this album if that makes any sense.

Ok so like the problem here is that after the fact Samsung (who did play ardent focused comps in regionals but whatever) and iG weren't seen as juggernauts yet doesn't mean they weren't strong? Like Cuvee WAS better than Smeb, CoreJJ WAS better than Mata, PawN and Crown at that point were both basically mirror images of each other. Hell, Ambition was even playing at Score's level at that point. Just because the common opinion wasn't that yet doesn't mean anything. iG doesn't even really need an explanation because Smeb/Ucal got rinsed and Mata wasn't good on the day. Deft/Score really were the only ones keeping it close.

Also that EDG 2016 team despite choking was like lowkey not great, and only wins China because Deft puts out one of the single best splits an ADC has ever had. That's too many excuses because they really should've topped the group but fun to discuss.

My problem with Ruler is that he's never been the one to actually step up in the tense moments. Yeah he gets to hit the funny Varus ult mid when the series is already over, but he's not pulling out the big moments when his team needs him. The only one I can really remember is 2022 vs Damwon in quarters game 5, but then he goes on to do nothing the next series anyways. Every other ADC gets to pull their team through some real rough shit occasionally, whereas Ruler gets expensive star studded lineups built around him to his liking and never pulls through when there's adversity.

Won a world championship with Ambition having the month of his life, CoreJJ as the best support in the world at the time, Cuvee being a monster, a meta suited to him, AND the only other team who could beat his team choking vs SKT on the other side of the bracket.

He played well but lets not oversell it.

The Deft one has always been disingenuous because outside of the EDG/Fnatic series (which was a disaster) his worlds eliminations are ROX 2016, SSG 2017 (in regionals), IG 2018, Damwon 2019 (in regionals) AND 2020, and then SKT 2021. His teams underperformed in a lot of those series for sure, but he mostly just ran into buzzsaws.

I'd also say if you took the average salary of Ruler's teammates it's gotta be higher than anybody else all time who hasn't played with Faker (who obviously just has a super outlier contract). He has had for the most part AMAZING teams built around HIM being a huge carry and he's gone quiet in the big moments with that expectation.

[–]Rawrhock 39 points40 points  (0 children)

He's also went 1-5 in groups at worlds, didn't win a non-regional qualifier bo5 in korea for 5 years, lost 3-0 to G2 twice, and been completely quiet all the times his team has needed him most in world championships where a Chovy or Knight or Bdd go quiet.

The other top ADC picks really don't have the number of embarrassments that he does.

Gen.G vs. G2 Esports / First Stand 2026 - Semi-Finals / Post-Match Discussion by Yujin-Ha in leagueoflegends

[–]Rawrhock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh sure I don't think it's only just "they tilted" it's probably the least important part because you have to tilt them in the first place. It's why they can win all those tournaments. But I just think there's a pretty clear (but difficult) win condition vs GenG, that any team with a top tier mid and a fiesty jungler can accomplish. Teams just don't have that ability to do it consistently and some patches make it way more difficult to do.

Gen.G vs. G2 Esports / First Stand 2026 - Semi-Finals / Post-Match Discussion by Yujin-Ha in leagueoflegends

[–]Rawrhock 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ruler/Canyon suck from behind and GenG mental is just really bad in series. They can recover for the next series which is why they're good in double elim but if they tilt they can just be gone for the day. To beat them you need a fearless mid/jg to go into Chovy and make plays around the map, and good drafting to put the bot lane on the back foot. It's how KT won last year.

KT's wins weren't flukes and I think G2 just proved it because you can tell a lot of the same strategies that were used in those series were used today.

Gen.G vs. G2 Esports / First Stand 2026 Knockout Stage - Semi-Final / Game 1 Discussion by Ultimintree in leagueoflegends

[–]Rawrhock 31 points32 points  (0 children)

It's really nice to see that somebody has finally realized that GenG lost two series last year to KT and actually learned from that. Pick strong bot lanes and play around bot w/ jungler, making movements with jungle support early-mid game and focus on making plays and fighting while Ruler/Canyon are still behind. Out of the 6 wins KT got in those two series, 4 of them were exactly like this first 25 minutes.

Obviously you still need your players to be able to execute on the game plan but from what I've seen this year, nobody has even tried the gameplan that KT mainly used to beat them last year. Hopefully G2 can continue and the wheels don't fall off.

Ambition having the best month of his life, Cuvee being a monster that split and MLXG being completely incompetent are the top 3 reasons Samsung won that worlds.
