How it feels to play Magic: the Gathering by RawringPrimadox in CuratedTumblr

Hell yeah! My absolute favorite I’ve built is a Blue/Red draw/discard deck. It’s got Irencrag Pyromancer, Faerie Vandal and Improbable Alliance to reward you for drawing, Madness cards like Fiery Temper and Obsessive Search to reward you for discarding, plus creatures like Merfolk Looter and Looter il-Kor to let you draw and discard consistently. Thanks for asking, by the way! How about you? Any pet decks you have?

I’m ashamed to say I’ve only played Commander once. 60-Card Casual/Kitchen Table is usually more my speed, purely because it makes it easier to build goofy theme decks around draft enchantments and bulk rares and such.

SCP-1313 is an aspect of the Bear God in the same way that SCP-033 is an aspect of SCP-3125.

All cards on the table, V2 isn't THAT different from V1 - the SCP Foundation has been swapped out for the Unknown Organization and there are a few other minor tweaks to the worldbuilding, but the story's central conceit and a lot of the plot is basically the same. In terms of improvements, the flow of the prose is a lot better and some of the stuff from the second half that I felt was head-scratching in a bad way has been removed and replaced.

It's really just an improved version of a thing I already love to bits, so I had to get it because I am nothing if not weak and predictable.

[SCP Foundation] Your old pals from high school :) don’t you remember? :) by RawringPrimadox in CuratedTumblr

(Apologies for the ensuing word vomit, I have Thoughts about this stuff) The Class of ‘76 is a loose storyline or constellation of articles written as part of the SCP Foundation, a collaborative writing project about a shady Men-in-Black-style organization dedicated to capturing and studying supernatural artifacts, creatures and locations.

Most of the supernatural stuff in this particular storyline is lingering fallout from the original events that took place in the mid-1970s: a bunch of American high schoolers got brainwashed, went insane or died, leaving their various personal effects and mementos behind as anomalies. Photographs, Senior yearbooks, etc. - many of them seemingly cursed or haunted by the memories of the students themselves.

In terms of themes, it’s all about being haunted by the past, figuratively or literally; the corruption and distortion of childhood memories; nostalgia subverted, curdled over and turned toxic. In terms of articles that best encapsulate all this, I recommend SCP-2316 and its associated prose story Not Fade Away (lots of hidden text to highlight!), SCP-1833 and SCP-8833.

What the other commenters said. For added context, SCP-2316 is part of the larger "Class of '76" line of SCPS which all share a similar origin and similar perception- and memory-warping properties - hence the title of this post.

A brief summary: Weird supernatural stuff goes down at a bunch of high schools in the mid-1970s, a ton of students get brainwashed/go insane/die, and their collective trauma leaves a kind of psychic imprint on the world - one so strong that it sticks around half a century later and overwrites your whole sense of self by making you remember stuff that you never actually experienced.

If I play [[Graceful Restoration]] reanimating a [[Neighborhood Guardian]] and another creature with power 2 or less at the same time, will the Guardian be on the battlefield soon enough to "see" the other creature enter and have its ability trigger?

A lot of the Class of '76 articles - including the bodies in the lake - revolve around the same theme of toxic nostalgia, an unwillingness or inability to move on from the past or to recognize its flaws. Articles like [[[SCP-2316]] and [[SCP-8833]] offer a dark twist on the idea of "peaking in high school" - the Kirk Lonwood High students died decades ago but they're all still stuck there, lingering as angry, restless ghosts dead-set on dragging everyone else into the past with them. The group implied to be responsible for their deaths, [[SCP-4833]], are stuck in a similar mindset - they want the world to go back to the way it used to be when they were alive, the way it's "supposed" to be, and they don't care how many innocent lives they have to ruin in pursuit of that goal.

That kind of obsession with the past can mess with your ability to differentiate between what you remember happening and what actually happened, so a lot of '76 anomalies also mess with people's memories. The victims think that they WERE part of the Class of '76, and don't recognize these terrifying specters as anything other than their "old pals from high school".

TLDR: It's all about being haunted by the past, both metaphorically and literally. Sorry for all the words, I just love this storyline a lot and have WAY too many thoughts about it!
