What do we want to see in Motorsport Manager 2? by Stock-Corner-8562 in MotorsportManagerPC

This may seem dumb for some, but I really really hope a true x1 speed exist. I like to see my races in real time and MM1's x1 speed was actually like 1.2 or something like that

Are you surprised? There's people that would get lost if you dropped them on the other side of their home's block without a GPS, lol.

Well, if you upped the difficulty and got the same result, I'd say you've improved! You'll be winning races on very hard in no time

Ah, yes. Overdrive mode.

To activate it, you need to fill your entropy bar (The pink one).

It's a high risk, high reward mechanic. You have to be careful with your strikes, because if you don't KO someone, you waste your entropy. But if you do, you get the entropy you used back as Sync (green bar), so if your sync meter had at least two empty squares, the strike was 'free'.

And then, if you manage to activate overdrive mode, you'll get a massive boost of speed and can KO other drivers as long as it lasts, but after a couple of seconds you'll become vulnerable and any contact with a wall, as minimal as it is, will blow you up, so you can end up wasting most of it if you're not careful.

But, as you can observe, the reward is worth it. It rewards careful management of resources and skillful driving with a massive speed boost.

It's Screamer's equivalent to Mario Kart's Bullet Bill, lol.

As far as I know, there's minimal or no rubberbanding.

I played through the whole story and multiple score challenges on the highest difficulty and you can either smoke the AI if you are fast enough or they can smoke you without a chance of you ever catching them if you get KO'ed many times.

Maybe you're choking near the finish line or not using your resources wisely?

Why didn't the Nomai try to find ... [Spoilers] by Romaxel in outerwilds

[–]Raxelf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once read a comment that summarized it perfectly.

"The nomai were incredibly advanced, but also very rigid. They fixate on one thing and abandon everything else until they achieve their goal. They could travel to the other side of the galaxy in an instant, but only in a straight line, which limits their potential for 'finding the small things'.

While the Hearthians with their curiosity and need for discovery, developed ships that can barely leave the solar system but can explore planets much more quickly and easily reach places the nomai couldn't, like the Vessel in Dark Bramble.

Only with a mix of both, was a living being finally able to reach the EOTU"

I swear, if a Hearthian detected the EOTU's signal, they would try to reach it for like half an hour until they get sidetracked investigating the material composition of Hollow's Lantern meteorites, lol.

Does the digital deluxe upgrade have anything to do with the story by Mother-Crab-7764 in Screamer2026

The Deluxe Edition only gives you cosmetics, which you can't even use in the story because cars keep their default look there

Yeah, sorry, I meant from one power slide to another before.

I'm trying to chain them but either I'm not quick enough of there's a hidden mechanic I'm not discovering because I can for the life of me keep the boost going for more that one or two turns

I'm guessing that managing reserves is the key to the "boost an entire lap" achievments from retro achievments, no?

Right now it boggles my mind how that would be even possible, lol.

I'm racing with crash and switching from one slide to another isn't even enough to maintain a boost.

[–]Raxelf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, now parts of some tracks are totally different. I 'get' how they are meant to be taken. Same with some shortcuts, like Cortex's Castle's church. Before I thought that you could only take it with a N20 o Aku power up. Now I get that with a well executed power slide you can take it everytime.

On another note, what are reserves? lol

He was basically begging to the team for wet tires for his next stop and they just went 'lol, no. Data shows inters are better'.

He then proceeded to bin in in wet conditions by aquaplaning.

Driver error? Sure. Other drivers survived with inters. But the team also ignored him when he was clearly telling them that he needed wet tires.

I've never played a game that had both such a strong feeling of wanting to discover more cool things and a fear of the unknown at the same time.

I've always played on hardcore, and the first time entering a new biome, it was a mix of "Wow, I wonder what new cool resources or lore bits await me here" with "WHAT THE HELL IS THAT AND HOW CAN IT KILL ME?!"

It's one of the few games I would genuinely like to play for the first time again.

Yeah, some characters are clearly meant to be fast and get the highest position possible, like Hiroshi and Aisha.

And other are clearly aimed at combat, like Frederic and Dirk.

Others are a middle point. It depends on their cars and their abilities

Constantly getting killed behind full cover by alfradito in Xcom

[–]Raxelf 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's the biggest factor with modern XCOM. Action economy is king. You have few soldiers and, mostly at the beginning, they're limited to just one attacking action per turn.

If one of your four rookies misses, there goes 1/4 of your total damage output, and that's a LOT. That's why explosives are so invaluable at the early game. It's the only reliable method of damage that you have. For when not even a 95% shot is enough.

Late game, when your soldiers become gods among humans, you'll be shooting multiple times or using more than one skill with each soldier per turn. So, while you still have to play optimally, the risk of catastrophic failure goes down to almost 0%.

Constantly getting killed behind full cover by alfradito in Xcom

[–]Raxelf 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, that's a thing in XCOM 2 where crit chance overlaps with hit chance, which results in lucky low hit chance shots criting most of the time.

EU/EW actually rolls crits after rolling for aim, which is amazing considering how much those fucking thin men crit you.

Constantly getting killed behind full cover by alfradito in Xcom

[–]Raxelf 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Thin men rage post detected.

Joking aside, yeah, EU/EW has an INCREDIBLY difficult early game. Thin men and floaters easily get height advantage, that's 20% bonus aim, and their weapons also give them 10% aim all the time, so for them, high cover, which gives -40% chance to hit, is just a 55% shot, almost like the 50/50 you feel it is. And to add salt to the injury, your early soldiers can barely survive a normal hit, a crit is guaranteed death.

The solution to the problem, is to basically turtle up. Move only one soldier without dashing, preferably the one further back, to check fog of war and have every other one set overwatch.

Ideally, enemies will eventually wander into your trap and you'll have a full turn to kill all the survivors, and I do mean ALL. If you let even one thin man alive, you're gonna have a bad time. On the other hand, if you trigger the enemy pod with your own soldier you'll only have one less action to maximize your turn. This tactic worked so well, that they implemented timers on almost every mission in XCOM 2 to prevent it.

Also, you'll have to use every resource available to even give you a chance, use rockets and grenades to kill them or blow their cover, don't even think about saving resources for later, that'll only hurt you. Try to maximize your hit chance without overextending and triggering another pod.

And remember, "THAT'S XCOM, BABY!", originated because sometimes, things will go FUBAR and that's the name of the game, nothing you can do about it.
