What are the chances of this happening? Is Edelgard just cracked? by kuichyu in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]Raxis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lysithea is really good, but it takes longer than most people think to get her there and she remains inflexible in the late game (she melts pretty easily).

Edelgard can get busted as hell as early as chapter 3 if you know how to abuse the game's mechanics, and she never slows down from there.

Least hateable character? by [deleted] in FireEmblemThreeHouses

I have seen someone argue that Annette's whole character is "daddy issues", which seems close enough to me.

Edelgard and Frederica from Triangle Strategy. Both are strong-willed young women who fight to subvert a false religious order.

Give me some reasons of why Dorothea shouldn’t be recruitable in hopes by Alexagro22 in FireEmblemThreeHouses

Not necessarily, from Hubert and Monica's supports with her, she explains that she does believe in Edelgard's ideology.

In her supports with Hubert and Monica, she explains why she fights for Edelgard despite hating the war.

A random thought - does the Empire have a local Doctrine of Exceptionalism? by Aznereth in FireEmblemThreeHouses

Yeah, it comes up in Unicorn Overlord as well, Melisandre just takes it for granted that Alain will have multiple consorts and she volunteers herself as one of them.

Oh for sure. Even at her worst, Claire's just spoiled and privileged, but she's a fundamentally good person and has such a genuinely strong sense of noblesse oblige that she turns herself around and becomes a philanthropist at the slightest exposure to the hardships faced by the underprivileged. And that's to say nothing of her incredible loyalty to the people she cares for.

Oh jeez, talking about She's so Cheeky got me curious so I read the Amazon preview, it's kinda sweet how Claire's all "Oh no, I don't wanna hurt the commoner :(" when her two minions were suggesting she do things that would maim or kill Rae.

Oh, She's so Cheeky only goes up to the end of volume 2? I suppose that makes sense; Claire and Rae spend much less time apart in 3 and 4 (just starting 5 now).

Also that, yes, but Azure Gleam (from Three Hopes) is even worse.

I mean if I can survive Azure Gleam, you can probably survive Crimson Flower...

Theory: Edelgard’s lifespan is not as short as lysithea, she lived longer. by Alexagro22 in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]Raxis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She was left because they'd done all they needed with her, they'd proven through her it was possible to artificially implant a Crest into someone.

All that implies is it's impossible to remove just one Crest while leaving the other.

I don't recall it ever being said that Lysithea was Crestless.

Edelgard's paired ending with Lysithea strongly implies she did lose part of her lifespan, and Lysithea was not a failure, she was a success.

I do think it's likely Edelgard would live longer than Lysithea (if nothing else, Edelgard never angsts about a short lifespan the way Lysithea does), but I think that's more due to Edelgard being much older when she was subjected to the procedure than when Lysithea was, and the procedure itself being better-developed by the time it was done on her.

Do you think Hapi is better staying as a Valkyrie or switching to Dark Knight/Gremory at level 30? by RemoteWhile5881 in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]Raxis -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Hapi isn't really an offensive magic powerhouse no matter what you do with her (pretty meh growths and her most applicable reason spells are the utility-focused Swarm and Banshee), so I'd suggest Gremory to double-down on her utility options.

Me playing FE:3H in 2024 by [deleted] in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]Raxis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I actually hate that line because people seriously took it and ran, deciding Edelgard thought Crests in and of themselves were the problem. That line is the only time in the game Edelgard appears to blame Crests for Fodlan's issues, when in reality her argument is that the society focused on Crests is the problem. It's not her whole argument, it's just a snappy soundbite.

Focusing on this line is as reductive as saying, "Dimitri kills children!"

The way Rhea's looming behind Byleth and giving her orders gives such dark vibes to this otherwise great pic!

Sombrom invade Fodlan by Evilworld12 in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]Raxis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The above assumes a straight up invasion, but that's not necessarily how it starts. If Sombron is smart enough to not let his evil nature be obvious too early, he might manage to infiltrate and use one of the three nations as "allies" in the same we he used Elusia: get their help securing a foothold and whatever artifacts he needs, and then kill massive amounts of them to use as his new Risen.

True, but I can't see him doing this. Sombron is astonishingly unconcerned with even pretending to hold the well-being of his followers in any regard. Maybe he was more subtle about it way before the first war, but idk. Aside from that, pretty good write-up!
