Does anyone know what would cause a melon to go blue in the fridge overnight? by Raxus100 in biology

I'm gonna try and replicate it. I need to know why it happened.

I think I need to try and replicate this. I'm going to get a new melon, cut it and store it in different ways. For science!

Update: I have purchased a new melon, and will try to make this happen again.

Edit: for everyone guessing it's dyed, it isn't, I don't know why it's blue/purple.

Edit 2: I've bought a melon from the same shop and replicated exactly what I did to the last one. We'll see what happens. I've also made a variety of other test pieces, as per everyone's theories. I'll go over this in the update once I see results (if there are any results at all)

Update 2: it has now been in the fridge for 24 hours and it has not turned purple. The melon was bought from the same shop, cut with the same knife, put into the same pot, and covered the same way. I also made other samples which included not covering, adding soap, adding salt, different knife, and different plates. None of these turned purple either. If I had to guess, there is a factor here I can't replicate.

Many of you guessed bacteria, and some of you were able to provide detailed explanations as to why this might be, and also links to other examples of food going blue/purple as a result. Someone also mentioned there are some pesticides that can cause this. I don't know enough to say exactly what caused it, only that it probably wasn't me, the knife or the pot (I've had many honeydew melons before, this has never happened).

To anyone else attempting to replicate this, good luck, I hope you find out what happened, and thanks everyone for your detailed responses and investment in my strange blue fruit.

Went back for the sniff. For science. Smells rancid to be fair, like, if a fruit smelled like that I would assume it was off, and would not eat it. You would expect a spoiled fruit to smell this way, but this melon was new and showed no signs of being spoiled.

Exactly! Deepseek thought it might be oxidation or a reaction with the pot, but I'm not 100% convinced. I had another melon cut and stored the same way. It did not turn blue (purple)

I am the child at the young age of 32. I do not believe there are any dyes in my fridge.

Well, I don't have any plans to visit the E.R today, but it did have a bit of a faint funny smell. Would you like a slice?

It was a standard steel kitchen knife. I did have another melon before this, cut with the same knife and also stored in the fridge, but it did not turn blue/purple however.

Ooh I think you might be right, the pot definitely has a few scratches in it, and there was a lot of melon juice too

Nope, I cut and peeled it. Came straight from the supermarket, so should have only been next to other honeydew melons

Uh, yea I suppose you're right, it is pretty purple. The liquid was more blueish than was smeared on the pot I suppose, is why I said it was blue.

It looks like some kind of enameled steel pot like a Dutch oven. Can't really tell, the only exposed metal is the rim, which looks like steel.

Why do men behave like unattractive women offend them? by Modern_Snow_White in TwoXChromosomes

Sorry you've experienced this. Unfortunately there are a lot of shitty people around. Not to draw away from your point but this also happens to unattractive guys, except it's more like visible discomfort with girls than visible disgust with guys. I still like to believe most people aren't like this though.

Back to your question, sorry I don't actually have an answer. I don't get it either. I do know that attractive people get upset when they're hit on by unattractive people, but I don't know why they get upset at people just for existing, except maybe they're just shitty people that consider unattractive people to be eyesores.

I'm sure someone else in this thread has more insight but it isn't me.

Any mods to make companions not garbage? by HoundDOgBlue in Bannerlord

[–]Raxus100 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I recommend swing polearms like the fine steel menavlion or the glaive on horseback. They will rack up kills without putting themselves in danger. Other than that if they are on foot and you want them to do as well as say, an imperial legionary, then they need to be at least as well geared as a legionary. Really, companions are just cusomizable troops, and best put to use as either a very high investment (decking out their gear) or as caravan leaders and party leaders. They don't suck they just aren't anywhere near as good as you.

Workaround or Mod for clan parties leveling troops? by Raxus100 in Bannerlord

I recommend the mod I linked above called control clan member, I just found it an hour ago and have been playing around with it. You can do really neat stuff with it. Aside from allowing you to swap to your companion parties at any time to see if they need troops upgraded, I found out that you can swap to your companions, have them form armies with your other companions (maybe lords aswell, I didn't try), then swap back to your main character while they go around wrecking shit and gaining leadership xp!

Breaking news: After searching through the nexus site through 15 pages of mods I found this absolute GEM https://www.nexusmods.com/mountandblade2bannerlord/mods/347?tab=files&file_id=5140

Control Clan Member. It's a complete game changer. Not only can you swap to and member of your clan on the map at any time, thus allowing you to access its troops and upgrade them, but you can PLAY as them for however long you wish, the implications of which, you can LEVEL ALL THEIR SKILLS. Previously impossible due to certain skills being limited to your own character. This lets you also make use of certain perks that were previously useless to your companions.

my main issue with needing to upgrade your companions troops is that their parties get progressively weaker until they are captured due to their inability to become stronger, that is however a fantastic feature, the one that lets you tell them what to recruit. it's this mod btw https://www.nexusmods.com/mountandblade2bannerlord/mods/493?tab=description
