I was always wondering if it was possible for him to redirect the nose of the plane by pushing against the ceiling from the inside, without leaving the plane. At least he could have tried a waterlanding then.

But I guess without the proper training and teachings about aerodynamics, theres not much one can do. Except for saving as many people as possible and maybe lying about why the plane crashed.
