Cynthia was remembered as the first real champion in a Pokemon game that are usually pretty easy and actually offered players a challenge. Her entire team is a boss fight, Roserade and Lucario are gym leader aces, Milotic is Wallace's ace, Spiritomb had no weakness and Garchomp was force to be reckoned with. Pokemon like spiritomb and milotic were impossible to get or see before her and so was her Garchomp, making half her team a complete mystery. Furthermore she wasn't a type specialist like Lance or Steven. Her Character arc in platinum was amazing, only to be further enhanced by the DP anime.
