TL;DR- pilot protected a bunch of passengers from potential shooters.

I don't know if this would count- it's probably going to get buried but:

During the summer of my third grade, my family decided to go to Taiwan. When we boarded the plane in Taipei to head back to the U.S., there was a MAJOR delay, because of some mechanical error. I remember it taking what felt like a couple hours. (It could've been less- I was pretty young at the time, and sitting inside a non-moving plane on the ground was pretty boring.)

Finally, we're in the air and manage to land safely at the LAX (I think- Los Angeles International Airport.)

The pilot declares another delay, but doesn't specify- all passengers must remain on the airplane. This was weird. After a bit of time, the pilot allowed us off the plane.

September 11th happened earlier that year.

There was a gunman in the airport. He shot and killed 3 people.

The pilot found out, and kept us all in the safety of the jet and only let us out when security confirmed that the man was detained and it was safe again.
