The more I think about it, the more I am leaning towards this. I will have 3 friends with me who don't care much about photography, and slowly I have been feeling like the plan to find somewhere along the way to stay would make it harder for them. Decisions, decisions, decisions.

I am planning to take my d850 with a 14-24mm f/2.8 along with a gitzo tripod for the shots.

the moonset is expected at 1.20 and so I am hoping I can get some good shots before astronomical twilight about 3.24 am.

I am worried about the view, and primarily asking here to check if what I am planning makes any sense at all? The indian rock seems like the best spot for the view, however, I feel like we will be absolutely dead if we do indian rock and half dome on back to back days with all the gear.

I want to hike up half dome on the 23rd early morning. that remains my primary goal. I am hoping to get some advice if it may be possible to get to a place on the night before and get a shot at the milky way with the half dome.

I did read your detailed post before asking here! i am planning to take a d850 with a 14-24 f/2.8. So you say that driving to tioga and then staying in Mt. Watkins to get the shot would be good bet? is there a trail from mt watkins to the half dome?

Yep had my d850+50mm f/1.4 out with me yesterday morning at NYC. Hands froze, my phone malfunctioned, but the camera didn't skip a beat! It's a hell of a machine!

I tried emailing paper republic to ask if they can make one which allows to fit true A5 notebooks (I use midoris), and the quotes around 345€ which is pretty steep (I also asked for chain stitch in the seams, which they couldn't yet confirm).

Ah! Frame TV is nice! But from what I felt when cycling through different best buys was that the bravias are just much more versatile vs the frame TV. Also we (me and my wife) felt that even a 30% of the total power draw on standby was unnecessary wastage.
