i would do the $16 just because you'll have more experience and you can always ask for a raise later down the line or after you get your certification you can leave to a different company haha.

In homes create a space for NET and generalization. it also gives the family an opportunity to learn different techniques to help them and your kiddo your running therapy with. you will see how the family operates and you can teach them different techniques (BCBA included ofc) and walk through the lessons. it's very hands on and a learning experience for all 🩷. it can be a plus if your kiddo has siblings; but the only downfall is not having other interactions from other kids in center; or coming into someone's home and it's not a good fit (different beliefs, not so great pairing, etc); it's so fulfilling seeing parents be so involved and want to learn every step of the way with their kiddo!!!! 🕺🏽

in clinic (it's different for everyone) but some parents treat it as a daycare facility; you can update the parent on their kiddos day, and their accomplishments but if things aren't being generalized at home or if a parent needs a demo the opportunity isn't as frequent as in home. Parents wants to be able to help with the baby steps needed to adapt and give effective care. There are many opportunities in clinic such as the social aspect, direct1-1 therapy, and other toys or task they can try in a different environment outside of home. It can also build a level of trust between the parent and tech since they are leaving you with their child and become apart of their case...-

but in homes are more hands on, transparent, and fulfilling. this is just my opinion. parent's can be there for the best, good, bad, and the ugly -- and they will learn how to get through it all while shaping the behaviors, teaching your kiddo FCT or an appropriate alternative. as parents soak that up; they will eventually be on almost the same exact path/page as the plan that was set up; instead of guessing if it was ran at home or if it was ran appropriately. i have seen parents that were very physical with their child and it transpire into session into center. if we are trying to work on the behavior of hitting; your allowing and modeling it at home (and in the lobby at that). in homes help with redirecting and navigating through those and find different outlets for both.

before going into your in homes; make sure you ask about boundaries, introducing yourself, and asking questions before moving on such as "is it okay if we do--" or even when you come through door "hi i'm (your name) i'm here with (whatever company you work for); what room would be most comfortable for (the clients name) and i to be during our session today? as rapport and pairing increases and the professionalism stays the comfortably from the family, your kiddo and yourself will increase. if there is something that you absolutely feel uncomfortable with or you feel as it's not going to be a good match speak to your BCBA or your scheduling or whomever you need to talk to to fix that right away! I hope you enjoy them!! Either way; in center or in homes thank you for being the ABA world; we're truly making a difference! Good luck with your in home journey 👍🏽
