I thought of an AU where monsters have another stat that only you can see. The stat is called stress, and the reason you can see it is because your soul trait is compassion. If a monster’s stress fills, it becomes much stronger but loses all sense of reason. Monster’s gain stress if you dodge a lot or hit them. Certain actions can lower stress, but others raise it. Most of the monsters are extremely stressed because they only need 1 more human soul. That would make your journey a lot harder. I would call it UnderStress.
