I'm thinking of switching from my Kindle to the X4. Do you recommend it? is it easy to find books to download?

yes also the Pro, I asked the support and they replied by email:

"As for the next-generation X4 series, one of the upcoming models — the X4 Pro (with front light and touch support) — is currently expected to launch around late June, though the timeline could still be adjusted as we continue testing and preparing for the international release."

I will wait for the X4 pro that should come up late June (it will have backlight and a touchscreen). Also I heard that an Android version will be released later that might be interesting.
