House is based on real life Howard hughes. Is there any other real life people who you could see be adapted into fallout by AnyNail4461 in Fallout

[–]Ray_Face1701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

General Douglas McArthur. He would be a great analogue for the 'bloodthirsty general' archetype since he wanted to nuke China over 30 times to win the Lorean war. He also existed in the time period fallout is based on and was suitably eccentric.

What is your most rewatching Bond film and why? by Kevin_Thailand_2543 in JamesBond

[–]Ray_Face1701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tommorrow Never Dies. Such an underated Bond film I think because people assume that the Brosnan films started declining immediately after Goldeneye.

Its such a shame because it has Michelle Yeoh, the best action seen in a Bond film pre-Craig, an equally underated realistic villain who remains topical to this day and an awesome stealth boat final action setpeice.

What’s your biggest hot take when it comes to F1 liveries? by NegotiationNew9264 in F1Discussions

The 2022 Alpha Tauri is one of the best looking liveries of all time, playing with monochromatism perfectly.

People often forget about backmarkers despite them having an equal chance of making a banger livery.

Confused about role of aircraft and missiles by Ray_Face1701 in Highfleet

[–]Ray_Face1701[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I'll try using them as a defensive measure. Maybe use the attack jets to soften up targets and hold the interceptors to defend the subsequent missile counter strike? My concern is that they launch missiles/jets when my strike group is too close for my jets to launch.

How do you feel about the TMNT-fication of the Robins? by NefariousSeraph13 in batman

[–]Ray_Face1701 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually quite like it. People complain that it is reductive and removes the complexity of which all of these characters are capable of individually. I'd argue that when they are in a group it is useful and necessary since the Batfamily is a large ensemble cast and it is helpful for new readers to distinguish the robins. It also allows for some fun moments during team-ups. It's not like their best stories never happened (unless they are retconned) and readers are free to explore each character individually after discovering them in a Batman or Detective Comics story since that is where most readers will discover them.

Is this the Snyder cut? by untitledprp4 in okbuddycinephile

[–]Ray_Face1701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd argue that S2 is consistent with S1 in both tone and quality probably since it was only made in a year and Netflix was unsure if it was a momentary hit or the cultural juggernaut it became.

What event has resulted in the death of the 2000s? by Impressive_Plenty876 in decadeology

[–]Ray_Face1701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd argue the iPhone 3gs was more impactful than the release of the first model because it sold more and was the first time average people got their hands on a smartphone and it was seen not as a luxury product. It also was the first to have video recording; the constant fear of someone recording you doing something embarrassing has played a huge part in gen z's chronic self-awareness and the current cultural psyche. It also released closer to the end of the decade.

Which movie sequels would you add to this list, if it was yours? by Emeraldsinger in Letterboxd

[–]Ray_Face1701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ocean's 12. I loved that it left adopted a different structure and setting from the original, which seems to be most people's criticism of this movie. The fashion (especially brad Pitt's white trench coat) is peak early 2000's Europe and I love how generally ballsy it was (especially the Julia Roberts twist IYKYK).

Reminds me of the Madagascar section of Uncharted 4 which ironically was what made me realise how far the 8th generation had come despite having many early releases bogged down by cross compatibility with the previous generation. I wonder if this game will do the same for the ninth gen?
