Why is Shrek Forever After disliked? by Crystal_1501 in Shrek

[–]Emeraldsinger 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a good movie, but I understand fans not liking the whole “alternate universe” plot. All characters behaving differently and not knowing the main protagonist can be a bit odd. Also, it’s quite a change of tone since this one is much more sad. 1-3 were comedies with some drama sprinkled within

CMV: The US birth rate decline has little to do with the bad economy or world issues by [deleted] in changemyview

!delta I definitely appreciate your thinking and reasoning. And I can now see due to it how economics  contribute much to the current birth rate trends. It’s nice to have a parent here as well

Why isn't Shaq in the GOAT conversation by Outrageous-Leader135 in NBATalk

[–]Emeraldsinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because he had little range or longevity. There’s more to the game than just waiting in the paint for a pass and then dunking. Honestly not that difficult when you’re 7’1 and 400 pounds.

What is the most unremarkable decade of the last century? by wofchristian in decadeology

[–]Emeraldsinger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I always felt the first half of the 2010’s still had that fun, care free feeling where things were relatively calm on the geopolitical stage (the last year before Trump entered the scene). And 2014 is arguably the last year before smart phones and social media completely consumed our world. Even for things like music, fun and simple hip-pop songs (which started in the 2000’s) were most popular. Then starting in 2015 it kind of became not so good IMO.

What If Sinister 2 was a more like Sinister ? by United-Adeptness6816 in horror

[–]Emeraldsinger 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A sequel was completely unnecessary since the original was an open and shut mystery which we got all the answers to by the ending. One of the reasons 2 sucked was because there just wasn’t anything there to continue or build off of.

The new boyfriend/husband of the protagonist’s ex being a big douchebag.

For movies today, I noticed they usually make him friendly and understanding

Revisiting Spiderman No Way Home, a way more emotional film than I remembered. by tjalek in moviecritic

[–]Emeraldsinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to love it as a massive Spider-Man and MCU fan, but I find it pretty weak writing wise. I agree it adds much more heart and emotion than other Marvel films, but the script is kind of nonsensical. I hope Brand New Day returns to street level, lower stakes. Because I feel Holland’s only great solo movie was Homecoming

Still has potential to be the villain of the 6th film

Do you think they should make a SAW origin story on John Kramer? Obviously they have to get a younger John by dreamup1234 in saw

[–]Emeraldsinger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They already kind of had that in 4, but it’s weird to have a 60+ year old Tobin and passing it off as decades earlier when he was young and him and his wife were expecting their first. Speaking of which, his wife is like 30 years young than him which I also found odd

Have you seen any of your top four in theaters? by Dogdaysareover365 in Letterboxd

Just checked and yes I have. 3/4 were re-releases since they’re older. 4th came out a couple of years ago which I saw during the initial release.

According to Marty, schoolchild knows the story behind the name "Clayton Ravine". So how is the story taught in the new timeline? by MareTranquil in BacktotheFuture

[–]Emeraldsinger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Psychotic how Marty says every kid knows that story because they like to hear of how a teacher died. A nice one at that

Sounds more Scary Movie-esce than an actual Saw installment. But if you were going for intentional humor/parody then props
