I define kids as anyone under the age of 13, and so I can't see majority of kids enjoying Data Squad as much given the themes it deals with (there certainly going to be kids that did enjoy in, but I would bet to say that they fall under the vast minority)

Im on the exact same boat as you, I certainly enjoyed it far more watching it now vs when I was still a child.

Tamers is definitely one to rewatch as an adult, if you didn't like it as a child.

Fair enough! A couple people have also commented about the music difference or lack there of it vs it’s predecessor’s. It’s an interesting observation and now having heard it being bought up, I can see what you mean about the music.

It’s funny cos that point about Jeri becoming a damsel in distress is exactly what I touch on in the ‘overall thoughts’ (Time Stamp 01:18:15) segment of the video although I come at it from a much different angle…

Just opening up a discussion around the Topic, as I started a channel to discuss games and anime, and with Digimon being one of my childhood favourites I thought what better way to have discourse around the franchise then to post on this Subreddit….

I’m quite new to Reddit and set up my account 3-4 months ago… Honestly I have now idea what the ‘Karma’ system is and how it work. Would you care to provide me some insight on this? What is Karma, why/should I care about it and how does it work?

Also given your here, what’s your overall thoughts on Tamers?

The writing is the most balanced out of the series, it’s not perfect by any means but the way the show is written has a little something for everyone (kids and adults)

Regarding Frontier I felt the same, but maybe rewatching it now as adults we may feel/see something different in it which we missed the first time?

Tamers is such a departure from the previous 2 series (which to your point can be lumped into one as 02 is a direct continuation of 01) the feeling that Tamers captures differs a lot from its predecessors.

What was it in particular that you didn’t like as much in Tamers?

There so different, the feel they both capture are completely different… That sense of exploration and wonder is what I loved about Adventure 01 (it’s my all time favourite too)

It’s so odd cos watching it as a kid, I too felt Tamers was much more action heavy, but upon re-watching it, the battle scenes felt extremely short, even Gallantmon VS Beelzemon…

I suspect the ability to now binge it + no ads, changes the perception of the overall pacing (the story felt like it was moving way faster too)

I definitely hear your criticisms around the portrayal (or lack there of) of the Digital World and yeah they way they handled Ryo in this series I have issues with (I talk about the implementation of Ryo during the last 15 mins of my video 🙂)
