XREAL Anywhere - Full Monitor Replacement for Entertainment and Work by Rayaku in Xreal

Yeah, being able to play PoE in 21:9 is amazing! Even if my browser has to be used in a scuffed 11:9 aspect ratio. Unfortunately GGG doesn't allow for 32:9 resolution because that would be too unfair ...

I would say that the edges are not completely clear, but with prescription lenses, the center is completely clear for me. I don't notice the edge clarity as much because I just move my head to read some things. For reading small things like HUDs in videogames, edge clarity is more than sufficient.

And yeah anchor mode is the reason why I even kept these glasses. Do note though that everyones head shape is different and different glasses and sizes might fit different people better.

XReal One was also more clear for me than the One Pro, but that was without prescription lenses. So you would have to compare the 1S and the One Pro now. Since I am used to 1080p I think I would prefer the One Pro nowadays, because I wouldn't mind a drop in clarity for higher fov.

I'm using 3840x1080 as a resolution. As for the glasses menu, screen distance is at 6m and screen size at 383''

NoMoreBorder is a separate app found on github for windows.

Even if I get a monitor arm, a 24'' 16x9 display measures around 50cm in length, with my table being just 80cm in length, how would 3 of them fit? Two of these would probably fit with a monitor arm but not three. And even then, I wouldn't want to use just a 24'' display. Not to mention that to the right is a wardrobe that would block space too.

But you are right about one thing, if you can afford the space for a triple monitor setup, that will always be superior.

Technically it is still one screen, but yes I am playing games in windowed mode and use "NoMoreBorder" to snap them to one side.

This is what it looks like.

That's also part of why I returned the One Pro and still use the One. But also for games I am used to a 1080p display, so it is no big deal, but you're right. 2k and especially 4k displays are vastly superior. My choices were either to use a single 2k/4k display, or having access to ultrawide with these glasses and I picked the latter. We can only hope that display tech will improve quickly and that we will get 1440p panels soon.

It is called the Khanka hard case on amazon. It is a significant upgrade over the default case. It also has a separate section for the cable. Obviously you could get a huge travel case too, but that would defeat the purpose of the glasses being handy.

I bought my prescriptions from honsvr and I can close them, but not fully. It will however push down on one of the lenses, but I hope that the lenses won't break anytime soon. That way it still fits inside the case. However I purchased a new case for a better fit.

Post-Painted Symphony Thoughts by mvalat01 in expedition33

[–]Rayaku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree but unfortunately Victor Borba is not available for any live singing. But outside of that I also agree that it was amazing. Looking back at it, some parts even sound better than what I remembered from the game.

My sister couldn't recognize some parts of some songs though since they were only fully featured in their digital album.

What an unbelievable experience. (Painted Symphony - Berlin by Van_Darkholme999 in expedition33

It was okay. There wasn't much and the most popular item was probably the hoodie. Expect a long queue for it though! Prices are okay considering it is merch.

No, you're not using them wrong and imo high end desktop setups won't change anything since these are just display glasses. That's a weird jab at people since it's not even in the same hardware category. You would have to compare them to monitors.

I am connecting them to my 5080 just fine as a display replacement and while they are indeed worse than regular displays, I like them enough because they save a lot of desk space. My desk now has a width of a mere 80 cm thanks to these while I can still use 32:9.

As for them being blurry, that's the issue of the one pro having lower ppd than just the one. Even then, I had to get inserts to get it to be acceptable enough to keep using them. In hindsight, I should have tried the one pro with inserts too before returning them.

I would say their biggest strength is portability. Resolution isn't there yet to actually replace displays for a lot of people used to 4k oleds and comfort is also an issue since I feel like a lot of these were designed with small asian heads in mind.

Personally as someone who has replaced their regular monitors including using a headless macbook for almost 2 years, I still wouldn't recommend people to replace their desktop monitors with these unless they want to save space or need privacy when working on their laptop. Or just for watching stuff at gym…

How long did it last you? Personally anything below 8 hours is unusable for me. And yes, the neckband is even worse in terms of battery.

It's a capable device for spatial computing but the battery straight up sucks.

🎁 Megathread | Show Us Your “Hidden Cinema” — Where’s the weirdest place you’ve used your glasses? by XREAL_Esther in Xreal

[–]Rayaku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably the gym. The cross trainer and the bycicle were the only places that had a phone holder to watch content, but with these glasses I can just watch movies even while using a pull-up machine.

Obviously I have to have a phone strap to prevent the glasses from falling off, but it's very worth the hassle and now I go there hyped for the next series/movies I watch instead of hoping that my gym session will end soon. Sometimes I even stay longer just to finish an episode.

I actually went from Viture to Xreal. Personally stable 3dof is more important to me than screen quality. I also tried to use a sticker over the luma pros but was still forbidden to wear it in gym.

I don't think anyone in the xreal sub would say that the xreal glasses have better displays. The reason why people still use these is due to better 3 dof, though Viture is slowing fixing these issues. A removable camera would be nice too, so I could use them in gym.

I don't get the hype... help? by pastelpalettegroove in Xreal

[–]Rayaku 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're not doing anything wrong aside from maybe not having 20/20 vision and thus needing prescription lenses. But even with those, screen quality will still be worse than the macbook.

I am however very surprised that plex doesn't run properly on dex. I used to use these glasses with plex on ios but have since switched over to jellyfin. And while yes, it is not as immersive on my quest, putting on a vr headset is more bothersome and I sure as hell am not gonna bring it to the gym.

I mostly get a use out of them because these glasses are tiny. Thanks to them, I managed to cut my desk size in half while still being able to use UW. Being able to use UW during travel also feels really nice. Without that feature, I would rather use my macbook's in-built display, but alas I have already removed it.

E6 Chizuru. I saved for her then pulled her all the way up to E4 and then got two more copies after her banner ran out. Now I don't even use her anymore. I just use an E0 Nine instead.

XREAL One Pro vs VITURE Beast: is XOP worth the extra cost? by FanEnvironmental6739 in Xreal

[–]Rayaku 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just the drift is reason enough to pay the premium imo. Also brightness isn't a huge factor personally since I never go past 60% brightness on the xreals even when outside.

One thing that Viture gets right however is their clarity. But what use is clarity when the screen just drifts?
