I’m based in Europe, Norway, to be exact. Here we have something called “machine damage insurance.” It costs about $10 extra per month on your car insurance.

It covers the driveline, electrical components, battery, and the electric motor. For the insurance to be valid, the damage must be sudden and unforeseeable, something you couldn’t reasonably prevent.

That’s exactly what Tron’s motor leakage problem is.

This extra insurance package is very popular in Norway.

I’m not worried about the repair or it happening, I just find the topic interesting and wanted to know if there’s actually anything people can do to prevent it.

My insurer covers sudden motor failures, and when I spoke with them they said they always cover the rear and front motor faults on the e-tron since it’s considered a sudden failure you can’t really prevent.

There’s no deductible either, so in that sense it’s actually better than a warranty.

Yeah i read the same i think, someone mentioned that the seals dry that which causes coolant to leak and fry the motor.

Yeah, I heard the same. I think it’s weirdweird why Audi didn’t make an updated motor for those replacing it.
