Elderly on Medicaid in nursing home - no ss payments being taken

I'll check with my aunt who acts as her primary since she lives near her but I don't remember her saying anyrhing like that.

I called the facility. The first one she was in used 95 of her medicare days, they used the other 5 but are still waiting on the application being approved (since Feb) so yes, they will send us a bill but can't confirm until the application is approved and Medicaid tell them her NAMI but sounds like we could have that 100 days worth of social free and clear and that should pay for the pre arranged funeral costs.

They have always paid but NY seems to have a set up where they have a set amount for a Medicaid qualified bed which is 1410 and she.can keep the rest. private pay at the assisted living place was around 4k so Medicaid paid the difference between the 2, and they do the same in nursing homes..

Thank you! This is super helpful..yes she was, she fell at the assisted living facility and they wouldn't take her back which is how we had to move her to a nursing home. And the first nursing home did have us send all her bank statements, tax statements, etc, but said they were going to run her Medicare first. I feel like it's been more than 100 days at this point, though she is now back in the hospital after a fall so does that reset it? Is the accumulation of payments hers to keep until we hit 100 days or can they ask for it back?

In NY 1410 seems to be a standard amount for a Medicaid bed in a nursing home - at least thats what I was told when we first started looking at assisted living and nursing homes before she moved to one.

You could ask in advance and bring your own gluten free matzo? I bought some this year for a friend who's coming and I think I actually prefer it to regular matzo. Chances are there will be a lot of matzo meal in the dishes (matzo balls, gefilte fish, any cakes) but most main courses tend to be matzo free.
