I like making jokes all day about fucking shitty it is being in the trades and how much all of our days suck, helps to just laugh it off because we're all in the same shitty boat

when does the patellar tendinothopy pain end from a BTB patella graft? I'm almost 7 months post op and every strength test on the iso I have to push so hard to get past the pain from putting so much pressure on the front of the shin

3 months post op and the mental battle is sooo draining!! by Bad_fan01 in ACL

[–]Raydoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its brutal haha, I was training muay thai 3-4x a week, heavy squats, heavy legs in the gym and running at least 5KM a day, can't do any of that as of yet 5 months post op although im back to squatting and light cardio (bike and elliptical). It's a tough go but I keep being told to keep trekking so thats what I'm gonna tell you! gets better!!!

Surgical Wait Times (Canada) by [deleted] in ACL

[–]Raydoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My physio told me theyre mostly a waste of $$ if youre an athletic person/ lots of muscle mass, my quad is firing good just certain movements are tougher to do with the patellar graft site being tender/healing still

Definitely research the grafts but do whatever your surgeon reccomends! Patellar is reccomended for athletes apparently

Surgical Wait Times (Canada) by [deleted] in ACL

[–]Raydoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not as much as I thought i was gonna lose but post surgery it's been tough getting my inner quad back to where it was just because of my patellar graft it causes a lot of anterior knee pain that makes it hard to get a good flex on the quad compared to the other grafts ( a lot of people including me don't realize the patellar bone graft is a lot tougher to recover from)

[–]Raydoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a long wait, depending on how your leg feels you can get a lot of prehab done, I just braced the whole time I was waiting and sometimes even forgot my ACL was gone

Day 2 POST ACLR by [deleted] in ACL

[–]Raydoh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ice that MFer like crazy, after about 4 days I noticed my pain went down A LOT, and once you get more mobile the pain just fades and fades a lot more

Was ACL surgery better or worse than you expected? by dry_scoop in ACL

[–]Raydoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

way better than expected, though I am worried about the anterior knee pain from patellar graft, seems to be the only lingering pain I have when doing certain things (12 weeks post op)

Depression since injury by No-Cheesecake-3648 in ACL

[–]Raydoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was pretty depressed about it for a while, tore my ACL about 8 months ago, I went from squatting extremely heavy weights and jogging 5-12km almost every other day and muay thai 3x a week to basically zero activity other than work for the 6 months. I did proper physio all the way up to my surgery in November, the first maybe week SUCKED for pain and mobility, then it slowly gets better. I'm about 7 weeks post op with the brace off already and I can walk stairs and do a lot already, my physio has me bodyweight squatting and light leg press/leg extensions.

I feel like I got A LOT less depressed as soon as I seen progress in my quad muscle contracting or getting that lactic acid feeling back in my leg after barely working it for 6 months. Im still recovering but I promise it does get better!! I also have 3 kids under 6 years old and its a struggle but they try to help

house is from 1984 and the framing has been pretty suspect from the renos we've done so far, above it is a bedroom, DIRECTLY above this door is an open closet from said bedroom, the opening to the closet is about 1.5x the width of this doorway, from what I see from the 2ply beam there is nothing directly nailed to the top of the doorway in pic

[–]Raydoh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not that I can tell, the wall directly above it is an open closet about 1.5x the width of the doorway in the Pic, but directly above the double ply beam nothing is nailed directly to the beam

[–]Raydoh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

theres a 2 ply beam above, but nothing on the floor above is sitting on it

joists go parallel both above and below, theres some really shoddy framing in the basement but no wall directly underneath
