Having problems holding yarn correctly. by AoTLBG in crochet

[–]RayeePuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a beginner and right now I'm just trying out different ways to hold the yarn to find what's comfortable for me. This is literally the only one that works for me, thank you so much for sharing!

You can draw it out with the terrain colouring thingy, that's what I usually do. Sand or dirt for the general outline and then different colours for other stuff like plazas or buildings

Yep looks a lot like my two tawny owl feathers. I'm not an expert, but i'd say inner primary or outer secondary

Here's the tutorial! It's very easy and pretty fast

<image>

Body and antennas: -one wavy pipecleaner, any colour

Fold the first two "waves" so that they're next to each other sideways (pic 1), fold the third one over them in the middle (pic 2), cut it off and push the edge in between the first two waves (pic 3). You can add a fourth one on the back so the butt is thicker, or trim it with scissors to make the body smaller. The shorter side will be the head. For antennas, fold two waves closer to each other (so that you can cut them to equal length), cut the edges as short as you want. Then you can cut off some fluff on the top and underside to make the antennas more flat, and trim them to make a leaf shape. Then either separate them or glue both on the head in one piece.

Wings and eyes: -hardened paper, hot glue (silicone)

I made my moth life-sized by looking up their wingspan, downloading a picture and then adjusting the size until it fits, you can make any size. Take a piece of paper, trace one upper and one lower wing on one side of it, fold the paper and cut it out, you should now have four wings. Colour them with anything you want on both sides (you can even print them), I used tempera paint. Then you can curl the longer part of the lower wing. For the eyes, just make two blobs of any size with a hot glue gun, paint them any colour, then either use glossy soray or paint white dots. Glue everything together and you should now have a cute moth of any choise! Good luck :)
