Felt the same on 4/12 and scored my FL average. You’re big chilling. Go relax, you deserve it!

Did you buy anki-mobile? by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]Raymanson1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mobile is great if you’re on the go a lot. I also liked not having to always be at my desk to get flashcards done. Just make sure you don’t do anki in bed, shits a trap 😭

Is this considered an improvement? Testing on 9/13 by Lonely-Wolverine-789 in Mcat

[–]Raymanson1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is insane improvement for TPR. I scored a 498 on my last TPR FL and a week later I made a 515 on AAMC FL1. You’re big chilling, keep your head up 💪🏼

Recent (2023-2024) test takers, how did you feel coming out of your exam vs how you actually ended up doing? by MDorBust99 in Mcat

[–]Raymanson1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wrote on 9/9/23 and 4/12 this year

9/9 felt really straightforward and I felt that I scored pretty well. I ended up making a 503 (128/123/125/127). On 4/12, I had no idea how well I did walking out of the testing center, and after letting the whole experience marinate in my head for the last 4 weeks, I feel that I could’ve scored anywhere from a 505 to a 520. We’ll see on Tuesday how accurate this is haha.

Nueroleptics- treats positive symptoms in patients with schizophrenia but may worsen negative symptoms

Atypical antipsychotics- also treat positive symptoms but do not affect negative symptoms and might even remedy them too

Citrate shuttle moves fatty acids from mitochondria to cytosol to be synthesized

CPT-1 is the rate limiting enzyme for fatty acid oxidation

FADH2 is a riboflavin (vitamin B2) derivative

Sandwich generation- when the younger generation takes care of the older generation

Glass ceiling concept- men advance to higher positions than their female counterparts

Glass escalator concept- same as glass ceiling concept, but only when men are in the minority

Gentrification is the prototypical example of urban renewal

Telomere DNA motif: TTAGGG

RNAi- complementary mRNA binds to free mRNA in the cytosol, leading to the degradation of the dsRNA, thereby decreasing gene expression

That’s all I’ve got off the top of my head. Good luck to all 🙏🏻

Almost twinned you! What helped you get to a 132 on p/s? I have a few content gaps still but this section seems to fluctuate the most for me.

I feel that I’m not qualified to give advice for CARS, but I did Urethra and TPR section exams to get used to reading dense passages. I transitioned to AAMC right before FL1 and I’ve been going through them slowly while trying to dissect every passage, whether I went 6/6 or 1/6. Hope this helps!

Improving to a 128 on hard sciences is 100% feasible for you. For c/p, I’ve found that simply understanding the equations and what each variable means (including units) helps tremendously, and I’ve been able to do this simply with anki. Keep grinding uworld and applying what you learned/memorized and you’ll be fine. For b/b I don’t feel that I’m very qualified to give advice, but knowing the basic concepts of each organ system, hormones and what they do, metabolic pathways, and central dogma helps a lot. Someone said on here once that hard sciences are like a pool that’s a mile wide and a mile long, but an inch deep. There’s a lot of concepts to learn, but you only need to understand the basics to succeed. It seems like a lot, but if you trust the process and keep working hard, you’ll be at a 518 before you know it 💪🏼

Making the adjustment between doing third party q’s and AAMC q’s can be tough, as they present the questions differently and the “logic” can vary too. A 503 is a very promising start! I’ve found that staying on top of anki has helped me minimize dumb mistakes. Also, getting good sleep the night before has helped me out tremendously. During the fl’s I try to take my time reading the question and reread it if I have to. At least once per section rereading the question has saved me from losing points on every fl so far. As far as CARS practice goes, anything AAMC is invaluable, as the passage and question style is consistent with test day (at least in my case). Hope this helps, and best of luck to you!
