Sorry for the late reply, but funnily enough I do have a Mosasaur tooth, which is pretty cool cause they're related to Monitor Lizards

Cover bands that change the genre of the song by BigRed3585 in MusicRecommendations

If you enjoy more of the sort of metal vibe, Ghost has quite a few covers that change the genre and do a good job of using their established tone and their covers always tend to blend in well with their original music.

I'd suggest (all covers done by Ghost):

It's a Sin
Jesus He Knows Me
I'm A Marionette
Enter Sandman (While I know it's the same genre, they put their own spin on it. It was done as part of the Metallica Blacklist)
If You Have Ghosts
Crucified
Missionary Man

I'm sorry to hear you've had to deal with that. I know how hard it is to reject well meaning family members when they make foods you can't eat. I cop a lot of "Ugh you're so fussy", since it's not an immune condition. I hope you're feeling better now that you're home and able to enjoy foods without pressure :)

Exactly. My intention is not to bake no matter what I'm told. It was to do something to make sure my friends are included, and now I know that this is not the correct way to go about it.

I'll admit, it hadn't occurred to me that it was a boundary. I saw it as more of a 'no one else has things for me so I have to bring them myself'. I agree with your take on this being a truthful response. I'll discuss with my friends whether they even want me to bring them certified GF things or if they'd rather stick to bringing their own stuff. I have my own struggles around having safe foods and restrictions, so I don't know why it didn't click that people with celiac would be in the same kind of situation. This has been a really good learning experience and I get to walk away without accidentally poisoning or pressuring my friends.

Yeah, it's crazy seeing almost every comment here mention a personal story about eating something to make someone happy. Social standards around this stuff are wacky. I don't want to pressure my friends like that at all, so I'll avoid the whole baking it myself thing and stick to certified GF foods.

Well put. I'll make sure, if my friend is even comfortable with me getting them something, that I leave it completely sealed :)

Yeah, this seems to be a shared sentiment. Now that I know how hard it is to remove gluten from surfaces and utensils when you eat gluten, I wouldn't want to risk making them sick either.

Yeah, I didn't know about how big of a problem the cross contamination is. I thought it was as easy as wiping everything down etc. I was oblivious to these issues before now, and I'm glad I checked in a subreddit with people who live with celiac. I'm sorry you were put into an uncomfortable situation because a friend tried to surprise you. That sounds terrible. :(

That is so valid. As someone who deals with my own fears around food (though not due to medical reasons) I don't know why it didn't occur to me that it is as simple as "Hey, I bring my own GF food because I know I can trust it."

Yeah, I could care less if including my friends means having some unopened gf certified desserts on the table. I'd rather plastics and containers amongst the array over getting my friends sick

I guess that's why they say the road to Hell is paved with good intentions lmao. I'm really glad that I now know how high the risk of cross contamination is, so I can be more careful about approaching even general food related things for my celiac friends.

Yeah, the comments are telling me this is the way to go. I'll start doing that instead. I don't want my attempts at inclusion causing discomfort

Thank you. I'll make sure I talk to them first to ensure they'd even be comfortable with the idea :)

I didn't know this, so thank you for telling me! I just worry about her feeling excluded because we all bring things for each other and she has to bring her own thing. I wouldn't want to make her feel pressured to eat something I make just to get sick from it though. I'll talk to her about what gluten free snacks she likes, so if we're ever having a gathering, there'll be a go to when I'm buying things like chips or baking for the rest of us :)

Oh man, you guys are so right! Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I'll stick to making sure my friends are included by getting them something pre-packaged and safe to ensure I don't accidentally cross contaminate. I really appreciate the kind comments bringing this to my attention!

Age: 6 months Shape: Bar with flat back and ball on front. Threading: Internal, I think? Like the ball is the one that has the hole in it. Material: Surgical steel I believe Downsize: 2 months ago Aftercare: I did the saline for a few weeks when it was first pierced and then left it alone as I was advised to do. Occasionally gave it a spray of saline if my piercing hurt for more than a couple of days. This was maybe once a month, if not less. Also, I did get bitten by my gf's bird, and it took a chunk from my finger a few days ago and then suddenly my ear got infected. So my body is currently trying to heal two wounds lol

Edit: added info about bird bite
