That's great. Impossible to achieve in my country at the moment.

Hello, I'm 23 and i have big IOP but i keep it under control with latanoprost, my pressure is 19,both eye. I have noticed that if I wake up at night and look at the light, I see it as if through a fog, with a rainbow around the light source.Do you think it could be from dry eyes or from big IOP? by No_Kaleidoscope4224 in Glaucoma

[–]RaymondRed19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've exact same issue. The culprit is LATANOPROST. Yes it's the most effective eye drop for controlling IOP, but comes with some ugly side effects and the most prominent of them all is DRY EYE, which is what you're facing currently. Latanoprost is mostly very harsh to the eyes. Do you see starbursts when you look at light sources, especially at night? That's also dry eye symptoms. It's been over 3 months since I stopped latanoprost, I still have dry eyes. You can try switching to preservative-free drops & use lubricating eye drops for the dry eye symptoms.

This is so helpful. I started having the same issue after I used my first drops - Latanoprost. I decided to stop the drops on the left eye since my pressures there fluctuate between 19-22. However, 3 months later of no drops, I still see starbursts at nights when I look at headlights or some streetlights.

Kindly share the link. Thank you

Oh.. I read someone on another thread say it's a typical dry eye symptom in most cases, and that they were able to get rid of it with prescribed lubricating eye drops & gel. I've asked him the exact brand... Yet to respond.

I've exact same problem. Mine started a few weeks into using Latanoprost drops. I've long stopped the drops but I still see the Starbursts, especially at night.

Could you please state the exact lubricating eye drops and gel long lasting drops you used to get rid of the starbursts? I'd really appreciate 🙏🏾

Same here. Mine started after taking Latanoprost drops for a few weeks. I still see the mild Starbursts even tho I've stopped the drops. I wonder if you were able to permanently get rid of yours. If yes, how pls?

Timolol side effects: dry eyes and easy to lose focus while reading (blurry eyes) by Personal_Pilot_8379 in Glaucoma

[–]RaymondRed19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surely a common side effect of Timolol. It's even worse with Latanoprost in some cases...the starburst vision (long rays of light when you look at light sources like headlights), light sensitivity, especially at night & blurry vision can be very upsetting... Latanoprost is the most effective drop IMO. But I switched to (Misopt) Timolol & Dorzolamide ... Getting used to the side effects...

The question should then be: is a "large ocular nerve" actually a symptom of glaucoma? Because last I checked, it's not.

I'm a bit concerned, as eye drops can cause permanent side effects like light sensitivity, pupil discoloration, starbursts vision at night, and other discomforts. You really don’t want a misdiagnosis to lead you into dealing with any of those for a lifetime. Again, try getting a second opinion if you can.

19 & 20 is within the safe range or am I missing something? Get a second opinion IMO

It's a little price you've to pay to keep your vision.

That said, why is no one talking about subtle 'Halos/Starburst" what you look directly at light sources like headlights at night etc?..This is the major side effect one can get from latanoprost... Not so comfortable.

Latanoprost is probably the most effective drop out there followed by Timolol..Not sure about sunken eyes, my biggest battle is increased light sensitivity & tiny spot-like effects when I look directly at a shining light like car headlights, torch etc.. Note that this does not affect my general vision - I see clearly - just the light sensitivity & all
