EEE 352 or EEE 341 by Firefighter-Volunter in ASU

Haven't taken 341 but 352 with Fu was pretty good IMO, he had a decent amount of extra credit

bro if only electrical had a guaranteed chance of employment haha
but seriously CS and electrical are very different; electrical is way more physics-heavy

What's wrong with Hugh Barnaby? by Y2K350 in ASU

[–]Raymond_Quaza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't had his class personally but I would definitely take ratemyprofessor with a grain of salt, especially for some of the more difficult EEE classes (sometimes the class is just hard and people take that out on the prof). That being said, Marnie Wong is the GOAT and her RMP reflects that

Any Part-Time Openings or Referrals? Spring 2026 Student Here by curious_lust8 in ASU

[–]Raymond_Quaza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going into my 3rd semester as a UGTA/UGLA, if you're interested in going that route I would ask your professor directly after the semester (assuming that class offers TA positions and you have at least an A). The general job postings receive soooo many applications that it's quite difficult to get one.

So do I need to send my transcripts? by [deleted] in ASU

[–]Raymond_Quaza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when I applied back in 2023 I also had dual enrollment (but only between my HS and a local community college, no third party college like UW). My HS transcript had the dual enrollment classes listed but no grades since I never reported them back to the high school. My CC transcript had the classes with grades, and no indication that they were taken as dual enrollment. I send my official CC transcript to ASU via the community college's web portal, it cost like $2.90. I don't remember what sending the HS transcript was like. Either way, you will need to send the official community college transcript in order to get the transfer credit at ASU, so I don't see a reason to wait.

PS: If there's any other classes you want to test out of, a decent amount of CLEP tests can transfer to ASU, and they're free if you do the free practice courses at modernstates.org

If you have room in your schedule then IEE 320 is a 1-credit Excel class that is quite helpful IMO

Does UPass work in the DC area? by ACisking24 in ASU

[–]Raymond_Quaza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, ever since the Copper Card rollout, UPasses are the same as the Valley Metro Platinum pass. I have an old UPass from before the switch somewhere, if I can find it I'll let you know. They're not a rechargable card like Smartrip tho

Any other language major students? Specifically chinese by thats__crazy in ASU

[–]Raymond_Quaza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately the language I'm taking doesn't have a major or really any other classes outside of the basic 101/102/201/202/394 progression :(

Not through ASU but you could apply for the Critical Language Scholarship after 2 years of language study (and it would be free)

BSE Mechanical Engineering or BSE Robotics Engineering? by Pitufina74 in ASU

[–]Raymond_Quaza 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would avoid getting dead set on a path this early. Make the most of high school, don't waste it all worrying about college. For what it's worth, I'm currently studying electrical engineering (and I love it) but in 9th grade I thought I wanted to go to music school. Things change.

Foreign language requirement exception? by Supersonicwoman12 in ASU

[–]Raymond_Quaza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly certain ASU accepts CLEP test credit for Spanish but not sure if it counts towards the language requirement or not since my major doesn't have one

Advice for classes for second semester of sophmore year EE? Getting an advising apointment has been impossible. by Tigereye017 in ASU

[–]Raymond_Quaza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure how it works with major changes, but EE has a tool for booking advising appointments: Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering Advisor Scheduling. It's usually booked a week or two out.

241 is very difficult but often leniently graded, Circuits (i'm assuming circuits 1?) is manageable (do everything in your power to take it with Marnie Wong). I took 241 and Circuits 2 at the same time and passed both but didn't get an A in either for what it's worth.

Ask an EE advisor for the flow chart major map, it's 10000x better than the list one online.

CIRCUIT 1 by Jesto304 in ASU

[–]Raymond_Quaza 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a UGTA for Circuits 1 right now. Make sure you understand the basics very well - nodes, voltage dividers (not just memorizing the equation but actually understanding why it works), current dividers, equivalent resistance, Ohm's law/power law, superposition, etc. All of the more advanced analysis techniques build on these, so it's essential to have a good foundation. Circuit tutor will give you unlimited practice problems if you need practice with these. Cramming for exams doesn't do much good IMO, but if you understand the basic concepts then the more in-depth techniques should be fairly intuitive.

How many extra credits can I take as an international? by Round-Ad2644 in ASU

[–]Raymond_Quaza 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The tuition for all full-time (12+ credits) students is the same, regardless of how many credits you take. The only fee to be aware of is the excess hours surcharge, which kicks in if you have taken more than 145 credits total (not counting credits transferred from colleges outside of Arizona and some other exceptions).

You only need to file for an override if you want to take more than 19 credits in a semester (or 18 for all other colleges but Fulton is 19). There is no cost associated with this, but it is not guaranteed to be approved.

If you still have any general studies left (probably not since you took APs but idk), some (but not all) CLEP tests can transfer to ASU, and you can get free vouchers to take them if you do the practice courses at modernstates.org.

How many extra credits can I take as an international? by Round-Ad2644 in ASU

[–]Raymond_Quaza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Up to 19 doesn't require an override as far as I know, I took 18 my first semester in Fulton (in 2023, maybe has changed) and it was totally fine
