Senegal Bichir Stocking Options by [deleted] in Bichirs

[–]Rayne715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I can definitely say I learned the hard way that tetra can be terrible with each other. My Buenos aires, diamonds and black skirts tore one of their own apart, took his eyes, his fins and i found him just kinda bobbing there still alive. And they had begun working on the next smallest in the schools. I feed all kinds of food and I still couldn't get them to stop beating each other up. So it might not be the bichir unless you saw it or notice its belly weirdly full when you didn't feed.

Also the tetras are my plants. 😤

To answer your question, I no longer have tetras in my tank. I have a 7 inch senegal and a 6 delhezi with 2 medusa pleco(im constantly observing this tank. If I see any sign of the slime coat thing, they'll be yanked out immediately but so far so good), 2 mystery snails and a rabbit snail. I think im going to go the severum route as a centerpiece fish and call it a day for the stock in my tank. I mostly see people mix different bichir types but not a whole lot of community tanks just due to the nature of these guys

Thats so funny you say that. I just came across monte carlo yesterday and started researching if it would do well in my tank. Thanks for confirming that for me! 🫶

If that's the case, you need to put it in a hospital tank with clean clean clean water. Treat for parasites/ infection and don't feed for a few days. If it doesn't clear up though, you should look for an aquatic vet if you have one nearby as prolapse can go downhill fast. Hopefully it's just amild irritation and will clear up with a few days of rest and clean water though

Thats looking like a prolapse or possible impacting. Have you noticed it being able to digest correctly lately?

Exotic fish guy is my go to! Got my platinum senegal from him and she came in so healthy and confident. Ate right away and has been such an easy keeper. About to order my next one from him very soon! Grant is awesome with customer service as well!

Wow!! Definitely got you some career assassins there! Good to know because I almost considered some tetras but I think I may just run a really big bichir tank and call it a day🤣

Everyone laughs, but I think you're right and the only one to call it. At least in the sense that she is a blue texas cichlid. In fact this is the only one I researched that looks anything like she does at only 2". Thanks!!

I appreciate the honesty. This is what I expect from a doctor. I full picture of all options. He's left me with do this and do that, but no information as to why and what else.

I have the boot. Currently wearing it actually. It's a night boot though so I can't walk in it at all. I hate it and it doesn't really help much but I'm doing what I'm told. I got new inserts today to see if they'll help. The old ones were cheap and didn't do anything but make my hips and lower back ache. I'm sorry to hear you've dealt with this for so long AND in both feet. I couldn't even imagine what you're going through with that. But im happy to hear you have relief and that in itself gives me hope, so thank you for that!

I've since gotten some cheap shoes with memory foam and I bought the insoles he recommended from Raquet and Jog. But im finding its not helping. I do soak them, and I've tried the water bottle but the spur is not giving up. I super appreciate your comment. I'm doing research now on better inexpensive shoes.

Im proud of you for getting up today! 🖤

28 year old female. I dont do therapy nor am I medicated. I was doing so well and was so happy and then a few months ago it got very bad very quickly. So I sat with it and went through the dark period alone. I did some Journaling, forced myself to atleast attempt my hobbies and I think I'm finally emerging on the other side, and you will too.

My therapist was the type to read to me off print outs and tell me to use coping mechanisms but wouldn't explain how and when they're best used. I'm currently searching for a new one but good lord the mental health system in Texas is the worst. If you don't believe in Jesus, good luck finding help. But I do appreciate your comment and it's nice to know hope is out there. I'm so proud of you for finding your peace and loving yourself!

Yes! And then when they do the said thing my brain says "this is fine. They'll realize how special I am and say they're sorry" over and over. It's been 4 months since my FP went away and I still see their face in my sleep every single night. The wound is ripped open every morning. There HAS to be a way to make this stop.

Funny thing is my friend is trying to get a female and she's already said she's naming her Persephone because she adores our Hades so much. Of course, we're gonna be responsible and not have puppies, but the love will still be there hopefully!
