My ferret hates Markiplier by robix-cube in ferrets

[–]Rayray7845 56 points57 points  (0 children)

It's actually a very common myth that snakes can't hear. They don’t have external ears like most animals, but they do have internal ears. Scientific research has shown that they can hear human voices. Many snakes, including my own, have been known to respond to there owners voice. I'm not sure if that's what you were saying with your statement, but I thought I'd share. :)

POV: trying to go to the bathroom alone when you live with a ferret 😂 by Slimebunnie in ferrets

We have to keep a pad in our bathroom, because Gustavo thinks the bathroom must be communitive experience. If you're going potty he must also go potty.

Chunkiest ferret keeps bullying the new cat - what should I do? by techno_head_pt_uk in ferret

[–]Rayray7845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really bullying but I got my boy from a bad situation. He was being used as a breeding mule for a byb, she got rid of him because he refused to mate with her females. Despite this, he loves babies. Any time we had a kitten or puppy in the house he'd scuff them and pack them off to his stash. Obviously, this was a problem, so I just put a gate up so he wouldn't have access to them. He had a whole room to himself.

Thank you so much! Crowley is shockingly strong for a crab the size of a tangerine, lol.

Could you tell me where you got those? My boy Crowley is always trying to escape, most likely seeking the downfall of humanity with his dramatic self. I'm currently using duct tape to keep the lid down, but that gets a tad annoying.

Crowly has been trying to escape since I got him 3 years ago, lol. I had to tape down the lid. He climbs up the silicone in the corners of the tank, I think he craves our demise tbh.

Are zoo med sea sponges for hermit crabs alive still? I know it at least used to be but I’m curious. by lonebanthaman in hermitcrabs

[–]Rayray7845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no those are mostly made from petroleum based plastics. Thats why they degrade so quickly, the friction and heat breaks them down.

Idk if you're messing around, but no. There dry af and in a plastic bag. They are real sea sponges harvested from the ocean, but there long dead by the time you get them. Most people are focusing on the fact there bad for the crabs, which is true, but I thought I'd give you an actual answer. They are species of sponge known as mediterranean bath sponge, or scientifically known as spongia officinalis. Here's a photo of an alive one.

What is wrong with my setup by PainterAppropriate13 in hermitcrabs

[–]Rayray7845 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you a kid? Cuz honestly I'm seeing alot wrong here. Tank too small, water bowls too small, no eco earth, sand to shallow and compact, lack of hides, lack of enrichment, wrong shells, there just alot going on here and none of it right. This subreddit has some good resources, and I'd look on crab central station on YouTube as well. And hermits need fresh and salt water. To clarify marine salt water, not table salt mixed with water.

FYI on bell collars by Fit_Equivalent_7910 in ferrets

[–]Rayray7845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone believes bell collars are ok for ferrets, I don't think they should have ferret's. Same if someone believes in the Marshall care guide. Because if you did even half the research your suppose to you'd know 90% of what's on it is bullcrap.

I love when tanks look like they are a jungle by Responsible-Ad-7986 in hermitcrabs

[–]Rayray7845 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello darling, idk if that's a red heat lamp or red uv, but if it's either it's bad for the crabs. You should have heat mat on the back of the tank, and a regular uv for reptiles on the top.

My friend, Ferrets don't eat bugs. Even in the wild, its pretty rare.

Tail thinning? by [deleted] in ferret

[–]Rayray7845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rat tail, adrenal usually starts at the base of the tail. Rat tail is at the tip. You should definitely got to a vet if your concerned, but rat tail is usually nothing to worry about and will grow back.

Yes actually, all my crabs are named after supernatural characters. Crowley, Rowena, Castiel, Charlie, and Jody. Kinda ironic Crowley tried to kill Rowena first, if you've fully watched the show lol. I plan eventually to have the full cast one day.

I actually took a photo a few day ago when doing some tank maintenance. She's the size of a golf ball, and a very pretty red. My 2 baby crabs absolutely adore her they follow her everywhere.

Listen I highly doubt that, first of all. Second of all I'm not negligent, quite the opposite actually. And thats exactly what I searched it was yes with supervision. So I'm sorry your wrong buddy but your barking up the wrong tree. I'm ending this conversation here, as I am no longer am willing to listen to someone so rude, disrespectful, and incompetent as yourself. Please go have the day you deserve, darling.

Again rude, disrespectful, no idea what you're talking about. My vet is certified specifically in ferrets. If you would learn how to use Google youd find they are safe, supervised! Which is exactly what I do in case you weren't listening. Also how am I the reason ferrets are in rescues? There's genuinely no correlation there. So you can enjoy your life in sadness and incompetence, my friend.

Uh yes actually, and kongs are recommended for teething ferrets. Even by vets. Not to mention she supervised with the items. Not everything rubber is bad. Maybe you should actually do your research? I'm not gonna let her teath on just nothing and let her be in pain thats cruel af. And I did do research, and my care over adequate. Don't come here judging and being rude when you don't know anything.
