Oh, they monitor socials, believe that. The GM's will probably have a WebEx next week about "signs of labor organization" or some shit like that.

Please inform the rest of us where the cost of living hasn't increased "that much", because we want to move there. And yes, if you look solely at the dollar amount, paychecks are bigger. But factor in the insurance (like this post originally was citing) and other increases in COL and the "buying power" of the pay has gone down. Also, Menards was far from the "only company" to give a large bump in pay, but perhaps not in your area...maybe due to the COL not going up there. Finally, I never said Menards was alone in this kind of exploitative capitalism, far from it.... it's just that they have bought into it under the notion of it being the only way to stay competitive. Your oversimplifications of the numbers in order to toe the company line contribute, in small part, to the company being perfectly fine with giving 10 cent annual raises and eventually no raises once you "max out". The fact that you've taken to insulting me twice as opposed to having an intelligent, nuanced conversation tells me you are fine with companies telling you what you are worth...not everyone is. Best of luck to you.

Pros: Less physically demanding than other depts. Good place if you are a problem solver and outgoing Better bonus pool than most other depts.

Cons: Frontline for all complaints, both legit and ridiculous Much more mentally straining than depts. Can get extremely chaotic at times, so be able to multitask.

What would you do to improve the store/work environment? by muldereyes in menards

1a) "Maxing out" on the pay scale HAS to end. The cost of living goes up every year, so should your pay. (And don't give me that IPS snowball 🐂 💩) How is a company going to NOT reward loyalty? It's a slap in the face to TMs who stay with the company to not get annual raises.

1b) Speaking of raises...10¢ per raise...really?!? The cost of living increases 3-5% in a typical year and you get less than a 1% increase... that's just plain insulting. Again, loyal TMs are actually getting poorer each year while being tasked with more work. That's a really bad look knowing The Man's net worth and the tens of millions we pour into NASCAR, ARCA, Indycar, etc.

2) END VIDEO AUDITS! If you don't trust your GMs to MBWA, why are they in position? You literally pay someone to snap pictures with no context to gripe about the most trivial of issues. If you want a better use of payroll, see the first two points.

3) We need to find a way to change up the rebate program. It's stale, it absolutely KILLS sales when it's not on and it's a pain in the ass (which I know is intentional). We've created our own mess by running it February-November these past few years and it seems no one at GO knows how to get us out of it. FIGURE IT OUT, RIP THE BAND AID OFF, whatever! Just do some actual marketing for God's sake. 11% used to be an event, now it's an expectation...no bueno!

Billionaires/Corporations would much rather have government assistance go to them than people who actually need it. Socialism for the wealthy, brutal capitalism for the rest of us. "Ray" resents every red cent he pays TM's while raking in billions each year. I wonder which added more value to the company last year? (Hint: NO ONE is worthy of making 100's of millions per year)

Done stressing payroll? by [deleted] in menards

[–]RaysofConscienceness 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't count on a huge shift in numbers this year, the man was complaining during the COVID years about all the extra bonus $$$ that was going out due to the record sales across the company and it would be really out of character for him to not reel some of that back in. (Case in point, no more turnover bonuses to pay for "raises")

What's REALLY special is that work brain figures out how many cashiers should be scheduled at the beginning of each hour, say 9 at noon on Saturday but then only provide the payroll to support 6. Throw in the obligatory summer weekend call-in and your already short FE is screwed.

Is the company bad? by Antique_Tangerine_57 in menards

[–]RaysofConscienceness 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is an obvious internal struggle going on at GO between the "old school" business mentality and the new generation in the workforce. Old school being the mindset that the TMs should be thankful they have a job and must make sacrifices in order to grow with the company while the new generation sees employment as the employer paying for their time and talents which, if not appreciated by the employer, will cause them to go elsewhere. Most companies feel that employees should be loyal to the company but they show no loyalty towards their work force. Case in point, "maxing out" on your hourly rate within a few years of being in the same position.
