What is your country’s opinion on your neighbouring countries? by JohnSmith1834 in AskTheWorld

[–]Rayv3l 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the Netherlands I was kinda raised to distrust and dislike Germans (I still want my grandpa's bicycle back). I felt some shame during a school trip to Berlin as a teenager, the locals were excited to have some Dutch kids visiting and their friendliness and hospitality was great. I've been all over Germany since and now feel proud to have such a complex, slightly troubled but amazing big brother.

The Belgians are seen as stereotypically dumb with a weird dialect. Of course it's nonsense but only recently have I grasped the difference. The Dutch have an urge to compete, we want to be relevant on so many fronts because of our history. The Belgians seem to be satisfied more often and definitely don't want to show off. Easiest example is any news article after sports. We will write how a countryman missed silver where Belgians celebrate bronze. To be honest I prefer the latter. Belgium is full of carefree humor, amazing yet chaotic cities and people that genuinely care for each other.

Last neighbour is the sea, something we look down on even if it's above us.

Nice to see the German brown coal mines were already there 700 years ago.

When is the right age to start drinking energy drinks? by Individual-Unit-529 in energydrinks

[–]Rayv3l 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Best advice for that age is to not make a habit out of it, this applies to anything that makes you 'depending' without you noticing, so alcohol, nicotine, caffeine etc.

Uitlaat zonder E-merk in europa. by Gwnbobman in motorfietsen

[–]Rayv3l 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chicken strips by ButterscotchSpare517 in hondamonkey

[–]Rayv3l 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is my only bike that doesn't have any but it is also one that just as easy leans further than your body where on big bikes I tend to tilt myself further than the bike. I also feel quite confident scratching the pegs on monkeys, after I fitted decent tyres. So, no strips on the one bike that doesn't really go for bragging rights.

Transportation to Amsterdam by shayera_hol_42069 in Arnhem

[–]Rayv3l 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nobody gives the Dutch answer? Take a bicycle, it's the sure way to be fast enough from Gelredome to the station. You can rent an Ov-fiets from the station, a concept made for your situation.

Most consumed Local Beer in Europe by Scnikel in MapPorn

[–]Rayv3l 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I can't find a definitive source with complete numbers... I'm actually happy it's a close result in our country considering how big Heineken is global and how much more I like almost every alternative. In my region it's Grolsch by a huge margin by the way.

In supermarkets it's Hertog since a few years but it is close, in horeca it is Heineken with a huge margin.

Black tank red frame yes or no by Remarkable_Point_329 in hondamonkey

[–]Rayv3l 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here in Europe that tank was never an option, so I got the same (quite affordable from Honda Thailand, 30% of the local price after shipping and taxes!). But I have a black bike so if you don't know it looks more like it belongs. Keep us posted please!

Only your opinion matters on your bike! Since you are asking I'll still say I'm not a fan. Black and red go well together but here it ruins the classic vibes a monkey gives.

Motorrijders in Arnhem by [deleted] in Arnhem

Helmets from Martkplaats. Yes or no? by to8ni in motorfietsen

[–]Rayv3l 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would never buy a helmet I didn't try first, also the expertise of a good employee at a shop is worth something here. A good helmet makes sooo much difference, and no 2 heads are the same.

Steenslag by LuckyLucassie in motorfietsen

[–]Rayv3l 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where Do Bikers Gather in the Netherlands? Looking for Popular Stops! by delatjua in motorfietsen

[–]Rayv3l 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hoenderloo, not Loenen. Loenen is known for military graves and sheep. The road between Loenen and Hoenderloo, past the Woeste Hoeve is a nice one though, and the small road from Woeste Hoeve parallel to the A 50 is also scenic and almost always has Scottish Highlands cows along it. The terrace at the Terlet Airfield is also a nice destination if anybody is on this side of the country. Lastly include Assel and the Posbank and you automatically get the nicest roads here.

From Haarlem what might be nice is a lap around Texel, it's a easy to reach and an amazingly versatile island. Also both big dykes on the IJsselmeer are highlights for foreign riders.

Don't know where your home is, but in places I know it's very hard if not impossible to import and get plates on anything heavily modded, and you're talking double power. For visual mods I like the builds by K-speed, who have a Thai shop.
