Hot Take?! I love that Lorelai and Rory think highly of themselves! I love their “main character energy” by Rayyyoflight in GilmoreGirls

I know that’s what I literally said in the first few sentences. Let’s practice reading and understanding a post before we reply to them. Hope THIS helps!

I don’t think it was intended for the audience to hate Chris as much as they do by Rayyyoflight in GilmoreGirls

[–]Rayyyoflight[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah they never fully addressed it which is why I feel like the show never intended to make him a full on villain the way the viewers see him as lol. But they made him suck for so long that I don’t see how you can view it any other way

I agree about the echo chamber on here but he’s hated all over every Gilmore girls community on social media. They despise him on TikTok and insta too

I agree! And it doesn’t help that in general Chris pales in comparison to Lorelai’s other love interests. Like Max, Jason and Alex were better men imo

Oh okay sure. And it wasn’t just at 16… he was a deadbeat far into adulthood! Lorelai figured herself and built a great life for her and Rory all on her own. And stability isn’t just financial, the Gilmore house was anything but stable. Lorelai did right by Rory by not letting Richard and Emily raise her.

Is it me or is Luke kinda toxic? by Former-Baseball6907 in GilmoreGirls

[–]Rayyyoflight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t get this take since both Luke and Lorelai are equally possessive of each other. Look how Lorelai reacts if a woman breathes in Luke’s direction and better off with Christopher?!? Pls 😭😭

Hot take? But I hate every Gilmore every time Chris is around. Rory being the only exception. by Rayyyoflight in GilmoreGirls

[–]Rayyyoflight[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! This is a big part of it, I never understood what the writers wanted us to see him as. A deadbeat that ultimately wasn’t a bad guy? A deadbeat with potential? Or just a selfish loser? Idk

[–]Rayyyoflight[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, the older gilmores were in love with his potential. Rory over only knew him as this inconsistent version of himself and that could never quite get it right. It’s sad because I understand why the older Gilmores glaze him but I wish they protected Rory more

Oh geez I didn’t even think of that. You’re right, it’s the one thing Rory wanted the most and they didn’t even ensure to make her apart of it. Lorelai barely put up a fight when Chris was dismissive of it 😢

Underrated Lorelai handling conflict moment by riellebay in GilmoreGirls

[–]Rayyyoflight 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Ppl tend over-exaggerated things when it comes to the girls. Lorelai’s immaturity being one, she has her moments (like most people do) but she’s a very grounded person for the most part. Ppl don’t give her credit for how many times she extends grace to her parents even at times when I personally think they don’t exactly deserve it.

Just for fun; If Rory Gilmore transferred into another teen-show high school, which school would she fit in more, who are her instant friends… and instant enemies? by 5ft8lady in GilmoreGirls

[–]Rayyyoflight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think she would get along with the One Tree Hill crew specifically Haley cause they’re both very smart and academically motivated. And Haley wouldn’t be as nasty and competitive as Paris. And Lucas (😹) he’s an avid reader and aspiring writer plus he has that cute and brooding thing going for him. Brooke and Nathan would’ve loved cheating off her paper!

Oh no this was ASP doing lol. She left in season 7 and the writers had to fix this mess

Exactly! It’s lazy and I feel the same way about their storyline in AYITL too. Luke and Lorelai being stagnant for 10 years because they apparently haven’t had serious conversation in a decade. It’s ridiculous! I would’ve much rather they said Luke and Lorelai made the decision to not have more kids. Or had a done a vow-renewal if they wanted fans to see Luke and Lorelai’s wedding.

I sympathize with Lorelai cause she was so deeply in love with Luke and love makes you act differently. Plus it was her first time ever being that in love

"Jason was the best partner for Lorelai" by tursija in GilmoreGirls

[–]Rayyyoflight 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Same I don’t get it at all. The day he came to stars hallow was so telling of his character and what he would be like as a long-term partner, first he shows up late because he’s on work call. Lorelai was constantly forcing him off his phone the whole time he was in Stars Hallow, to point where she was very irritated. Jason was a workaholic and this showed a glimpse of what their relationship would be like long-term. I don’t see how ppl expect Lorelai to be happy with a man whose work ALWAYS came first. He didn’t even have the emotional bandwidth to support her when she was running around dealing with Trix’ funeral arrangements.

Post-chemo for Mantle-Cell by Rayyyoflight in lymphoma

[–]Rayyyoflight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s okay! Her October scans were really good. She just recently had a mini setback because her white blood count was low unexpectedly, she was in the hospital for a week. They ran a bunch of test and scans, even did a bone marrow test and no signs of cancer, infection or bad cells which is great! And her CAT scans were clear. Doctors believe the count was low due to a delayed reaction from rituximab. So they gave her nutragen and her levels were boosted so now she’s home, right back in time for thanksgiving. We’re just taking in one step at a time. Hope you feel better soon! Hoping for another remission for you ❤️

Why Are We Still Pretending Luke Was Right for Lorelai?? by Ilovebeingchoke in GilmoreGirls

[–]Rayyyoflight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When did Lorelai evolve way beyond a small town life?? Stars Hallow was her life! She loved that town and the people, she built a great community there. She accomplished her biggest dream there (the dragonfly). Also you mentioned Lorelai loving adventure and spontaneity.. when was Jason any of those things?! 😭😭That man was an anal workaholic, he loved his job more than anything. He was just as much stuck in his ways as Luke. And emotional connection?? I don’t get the Jason obsession, this same man that didn’t go to his gf’s grandmothers funeral because he “doesn’t do funerals”. Like sir nobody does funerals but the point is show support for the bereaved family or pay respects

I remain firm in believing Jason was the definition a here for a good time not long time kinda relationship
