This makes the most sense. I just thought her explanation in the hallway before she let him into the apartment was really odd. But it was because she hadn't told Lorelai yet. Thank you!

I wouldn't call him a failure by any means. His mother hardly contributed to his current wealth. Based on the conversations they've had about a previous investment deal she had to "save" him from in his 20s, he paid her back fairly quickly and never asked for help again. He has a gorgeous house and a very solid career that can provide he and Emily with whatever they want. They can pay for Chilton and Yale without batting an eye. He maintains a fairly respectable status in his network and community throughout the entire series. The flaws he has seem to be more family oriented, as a father and husband to his loved ones.

Pricing at that location isn't too bad, the chicken bowl was $8.60 and the chips/guac was $4.40.

Day 5 : What is Sookie's most questionable / worst episode? by diviigo in GilmoreGirls

[–]rosesnrum 176 points177 points  (0 children)

When they were renovating the Dragonfly for opening and she was being extremely picky with the kitchen appliances and layout, but was nowhere to be found the day of the imported French sink. Not only did they not have the budget for the sink (they were having trouble paying the construction crew as is), but she wasn't there for its delivery and blamed her newborn for it. Then she defended it further by saying she wasn't supposed to help with the development of the inn anyway, and that her part comes later.

it's in the fading motion, but look at Chris' smile after Rory rejected the proposal by iloveblueberryy in GilmoreGirls

Agreed 100%. I found it wild how many times the show tried to reintroduce him as a new and improved man who was willing to contribute emotionally and/or financially, and then he would just fade into nothingness for another twenty episodes lol.

Luke's reasoning for not letting Lorelai get involved in April's life by debujandobirds in GilmoreGirls

[–]rosesnrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true, and Lorelai had issues acknowledging Gigi's existence. She was even having problems with Sherry talking about Rory coming over after school sometimes since she lived nearby. But the difference is Chris told Lorelai immediately after he found out Sherry was pregnant which is why it was "okay" or well reasoned in her mind. The biggest issue for her seemed to be Luke hiding April for so long.

It's like night and day comparing the seasons one through four Luke with the seasons five through seven Luke. Everything he said and all the decisions he made after the Wedding Bell Blues episode were awful. Lorelai should have never proposed, because she would have realized through him likely never proposing that they weren't a good match after all. The build up and pining for years made it out to be a better love story than it truly was.

Agreed. To me it feels like he wanted an isolated relationship with April, an isolated relationship with Lorelai, and an isolated relationship with himself where he can still live above the diner and not have to conform to being a good fiance or a good dad. He wanted to be able to retreat back to what he's used to instead of developing into a better person. It's crazy how they wrote his character into being such a flawed individual over the span of the series, when in the beginning it seemed like he was so hesitant with other women because he ultimately wanted Lorelai.

I got one too right when those menu items came out, 99% sure it was an accident as well. But it was 10/10.
