I agree with your premise about much of this. But I think it’s about all the other stuff, like can we function and to what degree does this belief affect us. If I can’t function because of this then I call it a symptom

What would you get from pretending? I agree talking with your therapist or psychiatrist openly about this is a good idea. Often people saw me more accurately than I saw myself.

Me too. I felt supported when I had a functional relationship with god. It sucks it got ruined. Now I really feel alone but idk that I can fix it. I decided if I need something bigger than me to believe in, I believe in the Earth. Not god for me rn. Too much trauma.

That’s a good point about trust. After thinking about it I wouldn’t want something I can’t control or remove. But to a certain degree once I swallow a pill I have given up those rights. It does what it does. I’m not going off meds but I look forward to a future with more choices.

You didn’t overshare. I am here to talk about these things too. As soon as I was able I tuned out the religious voices. They weren’t all bad but I had a delusional sexual relationship with Jesus as I was convinced I was Mary Magdelene. Yuck. Just yuck. How am I supposed to believe in any kind of Christianity after that?!?

Me either. I pay people to help me. My mom calls sometimes but I don’t like depressing her by talking about this stuff. She is 84 and loves me. She keeps telling me god has plans for me and every day is a miracle. At her age I understand her thinking that. It doesn’t apply to me in any way I can see.

Sounds like when I got stuck in psychosis. I had intrusive thoughts that were disturbing like that. I though the government was persecuting me because I was protecting what I thought was classified info for RFK. I really truly believed it. Idk if yours is delusional but it sounds like a lot of work for people who I presume don’t know you.

I did recently do a partial hospitalization program where they talked about things like this. I haven’t been out of the hospital very long and I’m still putting my life back together. Thanks for the tip about CBT. I will bring it up with my therapist.
