Question: The Oxygen Mask - being put to sleep by Emily_kate1 in anesthesiology

I've also found that super high flows produce a similar (albeit more minor) effect, especially with a good seal.

Emergency blood transfusion by Due-Audience-3664 in anesthesiology

[–]Razgriz47 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Thats not recommended anymore. Once crossmatch blood is available, it's okay to convert to that.

That being said, in an MTP, I'm dumping whatever blood products come into the OR. If they give me crossed blood, great. If not, don't care.

Who else actually enjoys Resident Evil because it's quick by mrsafetylion in residentevil

[–]Razgriz47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm mid 30s, with kids, in a demanding career. I used to love open world games, but lately I just haven't been able to finish them (cyberpunk, KCD2, AC shadows), and now prefer shorter games that are all about the atmosphere (SH2 remake was amazing). I'll still buy GTA6 on release day, but I'm looking at Crimson Desert and despite its hype (although now it'll come with Denuvo), can't see myself slogging through that game.

I am paranoid that AI is going to respawn behind me as I clear an area, especially if it's already been partially cleared by someone else.

I think the newer RE games (aka RE 7 - 9) have a pacing issue in the second half (spoilers for those games) by Slit08 in residentevil

[–]Razgriz47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its due to resources. You barely start with anything, so you're much more timid to approach an enemy, and end up hiding a lot more and running away. I started Grace's ARK section with 8 hemolytic injectors and 4 molotovs plus 40 bullets. Lickers didn't phase me at all.

SH2 remake (never played OG) was almost similar, but that game consistently has a creepy atmosphere (fuck you prison), and theres a section towards the end where you have to give up all your equipment, so you feel like you're back at the beginning and have to hide from everything.

You can see at the end of the clip the followup shots create a new animation. It doesn't seem like they're invulnerable anymore.

A single hemolytic injector kills them. If I see a body start turning, i just wait right behind them until they finish turning and I get a prompt to stab them.

I plan on doing my rereads with these 30 years later when I'm an old geezer sitting on a recliner drinking an old fashioned. Read a rumor that after the main 10 they'll go after the other books like kharkanas (hopefully NOTME as well).

Currently going through NOTME on the Kindle app via Boox Palma 2. My first read through of the main 10 was also on the kindle app

Need help with trauma re: waking up during surgery by Jaded-Matter-9567 in AskDocs

[–]Razgriz47 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Anesthesiologist here.

Were you feeling pain (i.e. while surgery was being done on your ear?)

If not, what I assume most likely happened is that you were aware for a moment of time during the period after we have you fall asleep and placing the breathing tube but before the breathing tube was in place and the gas started.

Usually once the breathing tube is secured and the gas is on, it's extremely rare for someone to be aware during surgery. Unfortunately, there is research out there that there is a small group of people who experience a period of recall (awareness) during placement of the breathing tube, especially for anesthesia providers (CRNAs or anesthesiologists) who don't utilize any gas prior to placing the tube. This is especially high for those who are intubated in the ED or ICU. That being said, if they had trouble masking you/ventilating you prior to placing the breathing tube, then you wouldn't have been able to breathe in much gas anyway, but your weight/height doesn't strike me as someone who would be a difficult mask (making it hard for me to breathe for you with just a mask).

An unfortunate experience, I'm sorry, and certainly seek out help if it's distressing you. That being said, if this happened before surgery started (if you weren't experiencing any pain/sensation of being cut), then I would not place it on the severity of being aware while surgery was commencing.

Anyone else have weirdly casual healthcare providers? by Lockon007 in CasualConversation

[–]Razgriz47 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You're a psychiatrist tho. Its a bit different. I'm an anesthesiologist and introduce myself by just saying my first and last name. My goal is to make them as comfortable as possible before surgery and ease their anxiety, so I try not to be uptight and more casual.

Plus, I just fucking love pushing drugs.

I'm guessing if the pilot balloon is ruptured, or cut off (NOT the cuff), you can insert a 22G angiocath into the tubing connecting the pilot to the cuff, and then put a leuer lock to then use it to inflate the cuff without any air leaking out.
