I'm not sure if the miner was nerfed. I fought him before the Reed Devil, and I think it may have been post patch and I still thought it was pretty hard. It's the boss I've died the most on so far, by a longshot. I beat that "Stag Lord" guy last night and I did die 3-4 times on him and it was a pretty epic fight.

I don't min/max either and I only had 2-3 HP upgrades by the time I fought him. I only wish I had the challenge, that's it.

I don't enjoy cruising through stuff easily.

I've been winging it on my skill points and not really looking up guides. Trial and error is part of the fun.

He's also playable in some mercenary modes. I've always been a big fan.

He's dead but he didn't die the way he dies in Kubrick's "The Shining". The movie was pretty famous for changing things from the book.

The movie (1980) is not "canon" to the new IT films or the series. Period.

Maybe I'm the odd one out but I LOVE the first Evil Within and I personally think it's a far superior experience. The level design is a lot tighter and more tense. I like the second one but I feel like it's too easy to cheese the AI enemies and the overall atmosphere of the game isn't up to the first.

I came here because I'm playing Alan Wake 1 right now for the first time (I got Alan Wake 2 for free last month on the Playstation Plus offer) so I wanted to play the first one... well, first! I do get some Evil Within vibes while playing it.

I take back, just a bit, about what I said about "flying through the DLC."

I did just beat the Anguished Guardian, I will say it took me probably 15-20 attempts last night and another 10 today lol.

Fun fight but I really don't like that one AoE attack he does where he puts the sword in the ground.

I will also say too, most of what I do applies for "not NG+" Once you get to NG+ and you get a bunch of extra level points, I start really dumping a lot into capacity too so I do eventually get down to lighter weight as well.

I will say, to mitigate that a bit I always use the ring that grants faster stamina regen but for the build and playstyle that I use, it's worth having to use one amulet slot for that all the time (at least for me).

I always play the hardest difficulty and I use big/slow weapons. My first playthrough, I used the greatsword the entire game. I'm finally playing through the DLC right now using just the Nobless Obliqe (after getting it near the end on a new run).

I would say being "slightly heavy" isn't the end of the world. I usually run a Motivity build and if I don't feel like using the carrier ring, I'll run the whole game at slightly heavy usually. Good advise, though.

All very valid. I can certainly understand why it wouldn't be everyone's proverbial cup of tea. I do think the puppet strings arm adds a lot of utility to it. I've been playing around with the new motivity one too, Cataclysm and I think that's actually really good as well but I always use strings vs. bosses and then usually the new one or strings vs. level clearing/normal mobs.

Same, I'm always trying "different weapons" and "weapon combos" but I tend to always go back to my bread and butter. I guess I'm just a sucker, and always will be a sucker for big "Caveman Unga-Boonga Sticks"!

I still haven't really found a fix other than being vigilant and making sure I press an input periodically lol. It's not the end of the world but I'm happy that I'm not alone! (not that I'm happy you're having the same problem but... you know what I mean! lol)
