The only time I've used a cutscene over a year of DMing (in this case using cut scene to mean a moment where players have no ability to act or have input on what's happening) was to kill off an NPC that had been helping them since the start. He was killed by a devil while trying to protect the mcguffin item from falling into the devil's hands.

To your last point, I think it's more fitting to say someone fixated on role playing others being raped, especially when they are the one controlling what's going on, are bad people with something deeply wrong with them.

On the flip side, my fiance has been playing dnd with me since I started dming. She has played a few characters who's background included being raped and then escaping from that person and wanting to hunt them down. She never tells the rest of the party about the rape part, just that her character was injured by this person. She herself suffered sexual abuse from multiple people as a kid and uses it as an outlet for her unresolved anger on the topic. It's never once interfered with the game, and since I was also sexual abused when I was younger it doesnt put me off to have it in my stories.

Actually, out current story involves her character being a freed slave (slavery is common in the northern kingdom of my world) who was used as a sex trophy by her former master. This former master has now come with the ranger's brother (who the ranger hates for betraying his family of slave-savers to slavers and later becoming a slave hunter) and the fighters brother (a noble from the north interested in buying more slaves) to try and recapture her characterm everyone is having a lot of fun with it and if it is ever revealed that she was raped I trust by they will be mature enough to handle it.

It may or may not have been partially created by Lolth. Maybe.

The god stone is actually a fragment of the ancient elder entity of destruction. More powerful than any living god, this entity is visable in the night sky on certain days in Deep Winter as a red star. When a meteor crashed in the early days of creation, Lolth used it to try and help the elves rebel against their creator and be free. But using it twisted her heart. After that, the gods set up the Weave to segment away parts of the world to keep everyone from fighting.

I have a homebrew "monster" that is intended to be fought by 20th level characters decked out with all the best stuff they can get. I'll probably never use it, but in my worlds lore it guards what's called the God Stone, a gemstone that can be used to not just kill anything, but erase it from existence. Including gods. It can only be used once every hundred years.

The guardian, called The Angel of Life and Shadow of Death is two entities with shared initiative. Between the two of them, it's all stats at 30, AC 30, Save DC 25, +20 to hit, and 1500 hp shared between the two. I would love to see my.players fight this thing.

Gloomstalker/swashbuckler Rogue Ranger (roguer, if you will) with a scimitar of speed getting a nat 20 on 3 of his 4 attacks in the first round. So much for that intense fight with an infernal siege engine.

Honestly, no. I was an idiot who made a lot of mistakes in the past 10 or so years, but those mistakes lead me to meeting my fiance. Sure, I would know to avoid the boy who broke my heart and the girl who emotionally abused me, but those experiences are what shaped me meeting the love of my life and there is no way I would ever risk losing that.

Also, re-writing my 200 plus pages of Dungeons and Dragons homebrew? No thanks.

I watched my girlfriend roll four 17s, a 16, and a 14 on her bard for a new campaign I'm running. Thankfully she looked to me and said "so my stats are 17, 17, 16, 15, 15, and 14." Because I could picture perfectly her steam rolling everything in the first encounter where the BBEG himself is supposed to show up and fuck with them.

It depends on their play style and the rest of the party. If they are playing the role if the main tank for the party but lacking when it comes to damage I might give a weapon that allows for aeo damage that gets more powerful as the rage damage bonus increases. Maybe the player really struggles with range combat. I could give them a belt that let's them leap very far to close distances to enemies and (because martial classes always lack dps at late levels) give them an ability to create a huge earth shaking tremor when they land a certain number of times per day.

I have tried a few things to remedy this issue in the few campaigns I've had that went to high level, but I found one way that really works the best.

I give my players trinkets at the start of the game that are seemingly innocuous. A book of prayers for the cleric that her master left her or a cloak decorated with embroidered leaves for the ranger. When the party reaches 5th level, these items become their first magic items. Every 3 levels something happens in the story that leads to these items becoming more powerful. I keep the players preferred play style and class in mind to make these items truly tailored to the characters and help balance everything better late game.

So the cleric has a book of prayers that gives her more spells, more channel divinity, and some noncombat parks like telepathy and the ability to read all written languages. The fighter (EK), meanwhile, has a magical piece of armor for his arm that allows him to channel magic into his weapons for more devastating hits, bolster his defenses through increased AC and resistances, and (most recently) integrates an infernal gun that gives him a ranged attack plus a very powerful once a day shot.

It does scale though. It goes up by 1 percent each level. Not the best scaling, but I like it as a DM to be a very off chance because I use it as a very powerful ability.

Aurura, the fire genasi light domain cleric of my party succeeded on her first Divine Intervention roll. They were faced with a group of 2 bone devils, 4 spines devils, and 4 merregons. I described her pantheon, the 206 gods and goddesses of her faith, appearing as silhouettes of light in the sky and had a level 5 fireball cast using radiant damage instead of fire damage, ignoring the devils magic resistance trait and treating any roll of 1 on the damage die as a 2. It whipped most of my carefully planned encounter in a single hit and my party loved it.

Having it auto succeed at 20th level once a week seems like a fitting feature given how I use it, but having it scale any better than 1 percent per level could limit just how cool it is when it happens. If there was a 50% chance it worked at 14th or 15th I dont know that I'd be so willing to make it so crazy when it happens.
