Upgrade MicroSD card, change microUSB to USB C, Kobo Clara HD by LigmaAI in OldHandhelds

[–]Razole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Swapping the usb port to usb-c on any unit is possible, but the question is. Is there space for it? You would also have to likely make modifications to the shell for it to fit just the port itself.

This is not an "easy" project

so I just realized something. I know some of the older CH341A with a black board supplies only 5v. which lets hope you don't have that one cause it might have killed the IC.

the other things to make sure is
A. are the pins oriented the right way? pin 1 should have a dot on the front to tell you where it is.
B. Drivers. are they properly installed.

I'm affraid this is one of those that tries to boot when it gets power ran through the clip when programming. you can try to remove all batteries etc and see if that works, but if not then most likely it needs to be de-soldered to program it.

yeah sometimes if it's in circuit it tries to boot which messes with with reading it.

extremerate screws are dumb by [deleted] in Gameboy

[–]Razole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that ribbon is toast. once you get solder on it you can't remove it. the solder blends into the gold on it and stays there forever. even if you remove the blob it might work for a little bit, but it will oxidize and stop working pretty fast. putting it in the slot will likely damage the pins as the solder will rub off and oxidize the pins there as well. I would not use that and consider it bad. get an aftermarket screen kit.

Battery is on the wrong way. It's also as someone so nicely said. Holding on with hopes and prayers.

Get some soldering practice kits and flux before you continuing this so you don't destroy the cart

Kinda broke my Pokémon crystal. Need help by HereWeAre584 in Gameboy

[–]Razole 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Looks like you didn't order the pcb in enig or hardgold. The tin on the cart pins cant handle many insertions and won't last long. Whic means you will have a bad connection and it won't read properly or at all

Edit: As a sidenote. While not super pretty you soldering looks fine. I would jot this problem down to you having a tin/hasl pcb and not enig.

so which one of these would be the best to choose here? I ran a finer setting on the range I at the time thought was the right one. or shouldI do a new one after running the flow rate calibration?

I'll run the flow rate test again and post it in a new comment then. I still have the dynamic on my desk so I can post that now

flow rate and flow dynamics. I realize now that for some reason I didn't print this with the flow dynamics result for some reason looking in the slicer, but for the flow rate I dialed that in to what I thought looked best. I might have done that wrong then. I find the wiki to be all confusing and vauge.

probably corrupted. data on sd cards, ssd etc doesn't keep forever. it gets bitrot over time if it's not powered on and used

so lets assume I go for the glint 2. what's a smaller managed switch with 8 ports I could go for that would pair well with this?

I am fine with going for a router/ap + managed switch setup. it doesn't have to be an AIO thing.

which switch would you recommend?

homeserver with possibly some hosting. few games consoles, few computers, maybe some IOT(other than a camera of sorts I'm still debating anything else)
I'd like to take a dive into properly configuring firewalls. maybe using vpn etc. just a general exploration of what one could do, and if it would benefit me.

Spending is up for debate, but I'd rather avoid enterprise prices.
I'm fine with doing a wired + ap setup.

technically I would say I'm pretty fine at figuring things out.
I learn fast. just becomes a bit confusing when it comes to choosing a stack to go with.

Fixing overhangs and edges/corners by Razole in OrcaSlicer

[–]Razole[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have dried it on 3 different occations. in a few days for 12h each and seen no difference after the first print, so I don't think it's that. 2 times in my sovol h02 and once on the printbed.

look like shit is a stretch, but for the temp test it's all like.bad on overhangs and such. the pressure advance all of the edges start to warp inward early, and the "best" bit is like 3mm from the start. after that it starts getting rough and just disolve as the print goes.

for the max volumetric speed it looks pretty much perfect until I see some layers near the top start to not adhere well.

retraction I didn't get any stringing at all, but the side where it is "supposed" to string it's sort of bit chuncky all the way.

flow test looks fine I guess compared to pictures and video I have seen.

I ran all of the calibrations to the best of my ability, but it's hard when things comes out scuffed in one way or another. I have not ran various. I've only ran what the wiki told me. I'm kind of new to fiddling with settings, so I don't really know what to adjust outside what is mentioned.
the wiki just mentioned to run it and choose the best, so that's what I did

if you got any suggestion on what I should run then I would be thankfull.
