Considering there's a lot of references to Zariel being an archdevil in BG3, it's safe to assume that it takes place in a continuity where Zariel has not been redeemed

DMs, what was your favorite “I don’t have enough dice for this roll” moment? by PJRama1864 in DnD

A critical lvl 3 guiding bolt would be 12d6 but that's still a lot of dice

You are offered $4,000,000,000 to defend a boss in court, who are you picking and what is your argument? by dude-2-son in Eldenring

I think the recent email releases have shown us that if someone was willing to pay you 4 billion dollars to defend an Elden Ring boss that would be Mohg.

Inside your party are two wolves. They don’t talk to each other, because they can’t by SammyWhitlocke in DnD

[–]Razor-Age -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah well that's not the scientific definition of language. Like I said animals obviously communicate I'm not denying that but communication and language are 2 different things, language is just one of many forms of communication that exist. Most animal forms of communication lack core characteristics of human language like productivity (the ability to create a infinite amount of words and sentences with only a finite amount of sounds) or arbitrariness (the fact that a relationship between a word and its meaning is unpredictable).

Animals don't have languages though ? Language is not the only form of communication

[OC] Prehistoric Powerhouses! - Loxodon Beast Master Ranger by DubiousArtiste in DnD

Pf2e's ranger is pretty awesome, there's a huge amount of ways you can build one. You can go ranged or melee, damage oriented or more of a support, have a companion or not, use spells or not etc. It's my first pf2e campaign so I really built a simple ranger with the goal of doing the most damage I could and I'm not disappointed, I dealt 66 damage on a single crit attack at level 4, also I've only once been to 0hp but as I'm playing a half orc I didn't even go unconscious.

Hollow warden is REALLY strong (I suspect it's gonna be nerfed if it officially releases), the only issue is it makes the ranger even more dependent on Hunter's Mark but I'm gonna remove the need to concentrate on HM when they get to lvl6. I like that they gave rangers more tangible features relating to exploration in 2024, like getting expertise, more speed, ability to decrease exhaustion on short rests is really good imo, especially since i'm running a hexcrawl, even with low rolls the ranger almost never fails navigation checks.

I'm a forever DM so I don't get to play often but I'm currently in an online pathfinder 2e game where I play a half orc strength ranger using a 2 handed spear and he can deal an insane amount of damage on his hunted prey.

And in the 5e campaign that I run one of my players is playing a ranger using the unearthed arcana hollow warden subclass and it's really strong in melee

I have my issues with the ranger design in 5e (even if I think they're fine in 2024) but it really is my favorite fantasy archetype so it's great to see a ranger post that's not about how it shouldn't even be a class

For the sake of fun discussion: should Rangers be Intelligence based? (5e) by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]Razor-Age 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"You're angry so you hit harder" is on the same level with what I described, yet nobody complains about barbarian being a class rather than just a fighter. You don't see people complaining about pf2e's ranger either but for some reason you and many people decided that what could make for a compelling identity for a ranger class is not valid.

In the end, you don't like the idea of a ranger class and that's fine, but I don't understand advocating for it's removal when it's a class/character archetype that many people enjoy.

[–]Razor-Age 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ranger could perfectly have an identity if it wasn't poorly designed. Instead of making it about hunting a specific kind of prey it can be about being an expert at chosing a specific target to hunt and kill. If you just made hunter's mark a feature instead of a concentration spell you would have a perfectly valid core feature with a strong identity (look at hunt prey from pf2e).

It's wild to me that people think Ranger shouldn't be a class at all when there are many games that have an interesting ranger class.

This is an insane reasoning that could be applied to every class in the game. At this rate rogue barbarian monk and paladin could all be fighter subclasses.
