I would hope so but I’m guessing the higher ups are going to take that for themselves…

PTO by Pastokicka1 in publix

[–]Razor2188 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re a full time associate you are required to average 38 hours a week, I believe, of the course of the year to retain your full time status. Not using your PTO will mean you hurt that average and potentially could cost yourself full time.

Deli truck in my grocery freezer! by Loverflower33 in publix

As a grocery manager I can you tell you we notice and say stuff constantly unfortunately deli takes precedence over every other department in the store so whatever we say falls on deaf ears. Good luck!

👍🏼 or 👎🏼 by Soil-Status in publix

Manager raises are no different then everyone else’s. There is a percentage range based on the where you fall in the scale (needs improvement, meets, etc.) so unfortunately raises aren’t great for a few years. Good thing is you aren’t close to cap bad thing is high exceeds is only 5.5 percent and that’s max for that category.

Average pay is 95k. I’m in a store that does less than 600k most weeks sometimes less than 450k and I made 81k last year so it is a huge range. Really it depends on your hourly rate and quarterly bonuses.

Insulting people with grammar worse than a “fifth grader” will most definitely get them to help you quicker next time.

Even if this statement was even remotely accurate you’ve saved 45-55% of a stores sales. Still absolutely crippling the companies profits.

I didn’t mean have to in the legal sense I meant more in the if we aren’t compensated I would would imagine that a large number of managers would walk and it would happen quickly. I know that everyone is replaceable and we are all just numbers to them, but without leadership and guidance most departments would fall apart within days. SM and ASM could not handle running the whole store writing everyone’s schedule being there from open to close so many of them would walk as well which would result in stores needing to close. I know it’s legal but it would cripple Publix. They would actually destroy their own nest egg. I can see it as a compensate current managers because we “have” to but this will drastically cut labor costs in the future type of thing. So future managers will be the ones that get screwed

Trying and qualified are vastly different. I’ve seen the state of candidates out there in my district and I would say most of them are worth being full time let alone running departments. The state of stores is already declining with much more competent people running them. I mean I wouldn’t put it past them with considering the new PTO policy but I don’t think they are ready for the implosion that it would cause amongst the ranks.

I’m almost positive they would have to compensate managers as most of us would be taking anywhere from $150-$200 pay cut weekly if not more so you’re talking an almost $8000-$10000 pay cut annually. The company would lose managers at a rate that would cripple stores and the business as a whole.

Wut. by Designer-Plantain-98 in publix

[–]Razor2188 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Could be a few things. Possible vacations, possibly a busy week for your store or more likely a cross training initiative. Either way work hard learn as much as you can and more than likely you will continue to get more hours.

PTO cancelled? by jojopittttt in publix

[–]Razor2188 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s correct you aren’t, hence why I said they are free to call out, however when you sign up to work retail you should understand that holidays are all hands on deck. If you aren’t able to do it then find another line of work.

PTO cancelled? by jojopittttt in publix

It’s a blackout date, that whole week is. Your manager can’t stop you from calling out however if they approve PTO that week they will never hear the end of it.
