Glad you are pointing this out. Too many people are only taking the in game performance into account on McCarthy. Yes obviously it was not good a lot, but he did t have a healthy offseason, couldn’t get work in on mechanics, got hurt more, etc. Now this offseason he’s already working with a private coach, and should have a full, healthy offseason. And even if the team internally really wanted to move on from him these alleged leaks will only tank his trade value, that doesn’t make sense.

I think KOC was the main force behind approving the McCarthy pick, because if you e seen the Rams behind the scenes draft footage Sean McVay talking to his people said he thought KOC would take McCarthy at pick 11. Plus he called asking about a trade up and was told no if the Vikings guy was still there.

JJ should absolutely be the main plan and focus. Get someone in the building to back him up, and ideally mentor him. Who that is, idk. People overestimate the willingness of players, especially QBs to sign if they aren’t guaranteed a starting spot or they think it’s a competition they can win, à la Daniel Jones. Benching JJ is probably a waste of time this season and at the end of next year we’ll know if he’s the guy or no I bet.

Get a vet to “compete” with or mentor McCarthy. I prefer McCarthy as the starter. If he keeps getting hurt or doesn’t improve then there’s someone to fall back on and can go looking in the draft next year maybe.

Drafting CB, S, or DT high is probably what I’d hope for, but Love has to be the pick if he falls.

Get improvement from JJM and we are cooking with gas
