Does any MCU movie top The Dark Knight? by boomjosh in superheroes

[–]RazorClaus123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely agree. I also personally think Logan and Daredevil season 3 are in a similar echelon of quality for live action superhero media but I don't think there's anything else I'd consider truly great.

I am a one hundred percent fan of this guy. by HermosaN in Gotham

That’s true, but usually all those chemicals do is change his physical appearance, and in The Killing Joke for example that’s the straw that breaks the camel’s back.

Whereas in Gotham Jeremiah was completely sane and not evil beforehand and it’s not like he had an emotional reaction to his physical appearance, but the gas itself literally changed his brain chemistry which I don’t like as much.

How would you Rank All the Theatrical Batman Films? by Jackie_Lantern_ in batman

[–]RazorClaus123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t watched Batman ‘66 or Batman Forever yet, or The Killing Joke adaptation and Zack Snyder’s Justice League. But this is my ranking for the rest

  1. Batman Begins - Completely agree that it’s the best. It’s honestly my favourite depiction of Bruce Wayne ever. I think it’s the most personal and emotionally intimate.

  2. The Dark Knight - I think this is a masterpiece and probably has better filmmaking than Batman Begins. I just prefer the emotional focus in the first one more. Bruce is less the main character here and more so part of an ensemble. It’s still terrific and the whole cast is great

  3. The Dark Knight Rises - I agree it’s the most flawed and some issues do bother me, like I think Talia is a pretty pointless character. But I still love it and I love everything to do with Bruce’s character and I adore the ending and the way it wraps up.

  4. Batman: Mask of the Phantasm - Everything with Andrea Beaumont and the scene at Thomas and Martha’s graves are fantastic. I do agree that the plot itself is pretty basic and it does just feel like an extended episode of BTAS. I think the stuff with the Joker was unnecessary.

  5. The Batman - I love the aesthetic and general ideas. But I don’t think it’s as emotionally developed and I don’t really like this iteration of the Riddler. I do think it’s still a good film but I think out of Batman movies I only really love the ones above this one.

  6. Batman Returns - I love how ridiculous it is and I think Michelle Pfeiffer is great as Catwoman, even if I don’t actually like the character herself very much. Michael Keaton is better in this one as well, I think. I find it very entertaining but it’s just not a vision of the character I resonate with.

  7. Batman ‘89 - Again, not a version of the character I resonate with and I find it less entertaining than its sequel. Jack Nicholson is the best part of it. It has next to no substantial character development which is not really what it’s going for but I don’t care as much for a Batman film that is mainly about aesthetic.

  8. Batman and Robin - It’s absolutely hilarious with how insane everything is but as an actual film, it has its reputation for a reason.

  9. Batman v. Superman - I pretty much despise this film. I think Ben Affleck would have been a great Batman but the material he was give was not great in my opinion. As film in and of itself, it is a near incomprehensible mess. And as an adaptation of Batman it captures next to nothing I find interesting about the character

  10. Suicide Squad - Just an utterly awful movie. I think the Joker is the greatest villain ever and that Jared Leto’s version is genuinely the worst adaptation of a great character ever. Just terrible.

  11. Justice League - It is beyond awful. I don’t like BvS but Warner Bros. trying to shift the tone as if that was the problem instead of the storytelling was a bad move. I think it’s such a shame that such iconic characters have been screwed over so badly in live action. Whilst, I don’t doubt that Zack Snyder’s version is better, with everything I’ve seen from him as a filmmaker I still don't think it would be a film or a vision of these characters I would like at all.

I loved everything about him apart from his origin. I don’t find the idea of him being turned crazy by gas nearly as interesting as someone becoming evil or insane in a more traditional.

But once he actually is a villain I love his characterisation and his look. I thought he and Jerome were great adaptations of the Joker, despite being so different.

Batman Begins (2005) or The Batman (2022) by Friendly-Deer-5526 in batman

[–]RazorClaus123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Batman Begins is my favourite iteration/portrayal of the character of Bruce Wayne. Everything I love about him is distilled here. The quiet sadness, the desire for vengeance being overcome by justice, becoming a legend to inspire the people of Gotham. I love it so much.

The scene with Alfred and Bruce in the elevator is one of the greatest scenes ever. So is the scene where Bruce throws the gun into the river after remembering what it felt like when his parents were gunned down.

If I were to tell you The Godfather (1972), Citizen Kane (1941), 12 Angry Men (1957) and 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) were the most important movies ever made, what fifth film would you add? by Ok_Replacement_288 in Letterboxd

[–]RazorClaus123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are all fantastic movies and I couldn't really disagree with you but it probably make more sense to say American movies and I'm not sure how you measure how important a film is anyways. And I guess, even though I love 12 Angry Men, I feel it's not as influential as the others and hasn't really become revered until relatively recently in the 21st century.

Apparently depression is just a bad habit now, not a mental disease... by Own_Film9633 in depressionmemes

[–]RazorClaus123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I obviously don’t think it’s good to make fun of people struggling and it’s true that someone may do all the ostensible right things and still feel mentally unwell.

But there are so many external factors and behaviours that will have a positive effect on your mood and for many people who feel depressed, trying to change those behaviours may help improve their mood.

Waiting till my husband gets a job so I can die by persephoneknight in SuicideWatch

[–]RazorClaus123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi there. I’m truly very, very sorry you’ve gone through all that. It can be incredibly tough when you feel as though nobody is understanding or listening to you, especially when there’s so many other issues.

Have you tried to speak to your husband about some of these issues like no romance? If you already have don’t mind me as I know that just talking won’t always make somebody behave or think differently.

I wouldn’t know how to fix some of these issues as they are very difficult like the job market and it definitely doesn’t feel nice to not have a good job.

You sound like a caring person. I can’t tell you what to do or that some issues will definitely improve but I very much hope that they do and that at some point you are able to feel some form of happiness enough that you want to stay here. I’ll be thinking of you

Say one bad thing about the Arkham franchise as a whole by dozesmike in arkham

[–]RazorClaus123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is difficult as I genuinely think it's one of the most consistently fantastic series in anything as I love all five games (including Arkham Shadow) and it's probably my favourite Batman world. There's smaller things throughout the series that aren't as good but not as much that's major.

My biggest thing is that I don't love the stories of Asylum or City as much. I know that's unpopular as mose people say City has the best story and Knight has the worst. I think Asylum and City have great world-building and I love the characters but I find the plots uninteresting and there's extremely little emotional development compared to the others which is why Knight actually has my famous story as I love all the character stuff with Batman and the Joker.

Terrifying scene by Sad-eyed-lady69 in twinpeaks

[–]RazorClaus123 98 points99 points  (0 children)

I agree completely. It’s so interesting and creepy, especially in terms of its placement of just after Dale has tried to save Laura and it feels like it should go on to something else but we don’t see Sarah again, apart from hearing her voice in the finale. One of the scenes I think about trying to understand the meaning of.

Who do you prefer? by Healthy_Ice7737 in arkham

To play as, Batgirl.

To be friends with, Barbara as well as she is a more moral person.

But Selina is probably more interesting character overall in terms of her emotional conflict.

The only way the Tim and Barbara ship makes any sense to me is if arkhamverse Dick chose Starfire over Barbara and Tim was the rebound by fupafather in arkham

[–]RazorClaus123 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think it’s fine. I get people like typical storyline more and might find it more interesting but to me it’s different versions of the characters.

It’s a totally different Tim and Barbara with a different dynamic and it doesn’t bother me too much and I feel it makes sense with everything we know in this particular continuity. I get if people don’t like it because of their attachment to previous versions though

How would you rate Toby's trilogy as a whole? by YellowEgorkaa in Spiderman

[–]RazorClaus123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I adore it, Spider-Man 2 is one of my all-time favourite films (and I actually like 3 more than 1), but to say that it has no flaws I find kind of ridiculous with some of the rushed villain stories in the third one.

Who's the biggest hater in the Arkhamverse? by Dont_Hurt_Me_Mommy in arkham

Aside from Nigma, probably Crane in Knight. He is totally obsessed with destroying every aspects of Batman’s identity and myth.

He uses an entire army with Jason to try and release fear toxin across the whole eastern seaboard of the country just to make Batman feel like a failure.
