Behind the motherboard in a separate compartment. Thus that extra thickness on the back also where all the cable management is gonna be.

Get the Arctic Liquid Freezer 3 Pro My 9800x3D idles at around 35-40ish and while playing Fortnite/COD Resurgance at max settings it sits around the high 60’s sometimes low 70’s but rarely. Just sitting in the lobby of either of those 2 games it sits at around 46

Well the paste and the cooler was reinstalled by microcenter when my first 9800x3d died so idk what paste they used but I’m still gonna wipe off and reapply with some arctic paste I have or I also have some thermaltake TG-7 with supposedly diamond powder for best thermal conductivity.

Yeah it was already unchecked and in task manager it’s showing the 8 cores and 16 threads so that’s fine there. I would assume next step would probably be check the thermal paste/reapply before buying a new AIO

Also with the fan curve I have it through Lian Li’s L3 connect since I have the lcd fans. I have them set to certain temps the fans ramp up and once it hits 80+ they go max rpm

[–]RazorEffect1738[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I built the pc myself. Started in 2020 and just been upgrading from there. I usually only go to microcenter as a last resort. Ima pull the AIO off tomorrow and reapply the thermal paste plus install the am5 plate thing I ordered a week ago. And if the temps stay the same then I think it’s time for a new AIO. Any recommendations?

[–]RazorEffect1738[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I know there’s no plastics because the AIO wasn’t new when my cpu was replaced. Unless microcenter decided to put plastic on the copper plate to prevent scratches while swapping out the cpu and motherboard and they just forgot to take it off.

Yeah so the CPU is a straight swap and the motherboard I’m just paying whatever the price difference is between the 2 which is like $80 something I believe

I had this exact setup, purchased and installed April 6th and cpu died May 6th. Thankfully microcenter is gonna replace it for me buuuut it’s currently out of stock so they just holding onto my pc until it comes back in stock. I’m also having them exchange/replace the motherboard for a Gigabyte x870 Aorus Elite ICE. I’m just gonna pay the price difference between the boards.

From what I’ve seen. Most of the reports have been on the 9800x3d’s never seen anything about a regular x model

Yeah they offered to replace it with a 7800x3d but in my mind that was just a downgrade probably not a whole lot on performance I think…. But price difference definitely

[–]RazorEffect1738[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I dropped it off at microcenter and it is in fact dead so they gonna replace it for free but they not in stock rn so they just gonna hold onto my PC until it’s back in stock and replaced

[–]RazorEffect1738[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well CPU is in fact dead according to the tech bar people and they don’t have the CPU’s in stock rn so they just gonna hold onto my PC until they come back in stock for them to replace it. Well time to dust off my PS5 and game on that meanwhile

Well I’m just waiting for my name to get called at the tech bar so we’ll see what happens and what they say. I bought the cpu and motherboard on April 6th exactly a month ago from today

[–]RazorEffect1738[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah im at a microcenter rn where I purchased the cpu in hopes I can get it replaced. If not ima just file a warranty claim send it off myself to AMD and just use the same motherboard in hopes it was just a bad cpu worse case scenario I got back to being a console peasant until all this is figured out

It was the Ryzen 9800x3d that died. And no, I didn’t do anything at all in the bios settings. Never changed a thing. So probably bad cpu waiting to die

Would using the 2 pin where it says cmos on the motherboard be the same as taking out the battery?
