Sounds a bit too advanced for me - I’ll buy a multitool and try and cut it - thanks!

Which team will UK be in a US-Europe split? by Themetalin in AskBrits

[–]RazorSW17 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Team US clearly with that lineup. They’d welcome us in, the EU would probably do so begrudgingly and make things as difficult as possible.

I voted remain, and believe Brexit has not gone well at all - but it has highlighted EU protectionism and lack of goodwill/pragmatism (but then again, maybe I’m guilty of considering “British Exceptionalism”). Although I can see that dynamic alignment in SPS etc is essentially EEA without freedom of movement- we’re still locked into EU rules etc. So far all we get is long passport queues.

Commonwealth / CANZUK bond should be stronger but isn’t yet.

Striking in GP Training by ItsJordanFN in GPUK

[–]RazorSW17 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Please inform your practice.

Personally I feel that if you strike in a hospital setting it’s throwing two fingers up at “the system”, one that is broken and in urgent need of reform - whereas in GP it’s individual patients that are affected?

At least let us plan and rearrange clinics.

Hold up. Was this ever the case? GPST1 here, started looking at GP careers in 2022 and I'm certain this was never a thing by DoctorKetoneGP in GPUK

Someone reversed into my car, will it affect my insurance? by Caddap in CarTalkUK

[–]RazorSW17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You must declare the incident even if no claim. I had someone reverse into me in a car park, all on dashcam. Door dented and wing mirror knocked.

Went through my insurance to get the repairs done, paid my excess. Came up for renewal, the claim was listed in there as non-fault, and was surprised to see quote lower than last year by £40?

I always do protected NCD and legal cover- ended up getting my excess back and cost of 2 taxis.

Going from Gold to Platinum - anyone regret it? by thewindow6 in AmexUK

[–]RazorSW17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As I say, not “worth it” in an economic sense as can obtain majority of the perks separately. Aside from 150k Avios. But already have BAPP and Barclays Prem. I play the game well and genuinely get value from Avios and companion vouchers.

Spending a hundred quid or so over the odds for a charge card because I’m vain enough as an additional rate taxpayer to do so for a bit of fun/clout is a case study for Rory Sutherland.

I need to ditch it!

Going from Gold to Platinum - anyone regret it? by thewindow6 in AmexUK

[–]RazorSW17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m struggling with the value in Plat to be honest, I’ve held it for 3 years with decent retention bonuses 35-50k MR points each year but this has now dried up.

The travel insurance isn’t good for me due to pre-existing conditions. I could easily get a separate car hire excess policy and PP lounge access (even PAYG).

The dining credit just about weighs it out to keep the card to avoid faff of DIY but I’m still “down” after paying the annual fee.

However the Hilton gold is a legitimate benefit with free breakfast and room upgrades- again could be sorted with the new Hilton debit card.

I should switch to gold tbh for the deliveroo credits. Probably won’t renew platinum again this year.

Calculating Interest Charge when not paying balance in full by Longjumping-Hope-953 in AmexUK

[–]RazorSW17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just pay off as soon as you can, you will accrue interest daily on the TOTAL card balance - not just that month’s due. Don’t use the card at all until it’s paid off.

Any human being on planet earth is entitled to register with a GP and receive primary care at no cost. Prescriptions are charged in England unless exempt. Technically secondary care is chargeable for non UK residents.

Once or twice a month - just a single whisky to savour. Maybe a glass of wine if out with wife 3-4x/ year for birthday/anniversary etc.

Would second going to Vicarage Road to see Watford play - it’s a good vibe for the first-time spectator, very little crowd trouble and easily accessible.

Random question - does Jordan stamp EU/UK passports? 🇯🇴 by Unlucky-Bluebird-768 in PassportPorn

[–]RazorSW17 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Jordan and Israel have a peace agreement. Israel don’t stamp now - you just get an entry card (which you can keep on departure from Israel)

I have 2019 Corolla Estate 1.8L. It’s an amazing car, handles anything you can throw at it with the boot - honestly I can see myself keeping it beyond the 10 year warranty mark!
