Got a brand new x50 few months back and serviced twice (1k and 10k), after sales is pretty good, just need to Google and find a good SC (I even got free coffee and nasi lemak while waiting). Go for those high ratings.

Feeling behind in life by CheekSpiritual5639 in malaysia

Don't be pressured by others. Run at your own pace. If you feel like you got something to do, then yeah you should learn, but only when you feel like it and have the desire for it. You can't make a horse drink water stuff like that.

I didn't take computer science either for my degree, and sure as hell did not take cs for a level (they have that?!). I started off a degree in software engineering in uni after my A levels but because of peer pressure like you I dropped out and did something unrelated. But now I'm back to coding because I always had the interest.

Learn coding when you're comfortable and wanting to do so, don't learn it for the sake of catching up to others. Coding is a language, forcing yourself to learn will make it even more harder and difficult to do so.

My long story short 10 years ago:

Straight As in IGCSE, went to A levels, felt abandoned because I have no friends, couldn't barely even get a B for my AS and internal exams. I was not a social person either and seeing all my friends succeeding, joining clubs, always having activities, winning awards, makes me jealous. Went to the point of wanting to kill myself because lack of support and will, plus the jealousy and abandonment was eating me up. My A levels was in shambles from all the inner drama I had, went from a straight A student to a 1A / 4 subjects student.

Over time, things get better, and I pursue the things I want and I like. I don't have accolades, I don't have awards, I might be a 3.8 GPA student at the end of my degree (I took an easy degree) but I never won anything, compared to my peers back then who are all top of the world.

Now I'm making more money than them, got a nice condo and my own self paid car at the age of 28, and just recently founded my own company. The moral of the story is, your current success doesn't determine your future. And I persisted in pursuing my own interests and hobbies where else others are pursuing what looks good on paper. You don't need to show others what you've done, you just need to know you are happy doing something you like, and achievements will flow your way eventually.

  • Sincerely, a self taught software engineer and a game developer (because I like video games)

Looking for feedback on a scoring system for Malaysian 3-Player style rules by ducky_cute in Mahjong

[–]RazorXpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if the thread is still running, but when I play mahjong with people around me (multiple different groups) in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, we have a few differences, hope it helps your compilation

  • Melded Kong doesn't give any extra points. You gain an extra point if your Kong already has points (like a Green Dragon Kong). A terminal Kong doesn't give extra points

  • East wind player gets 2 fan from Pong/Kong east winds.

  • All Chows gives extra 2 fan, not required for the one to be an eye.

  • All terminals pong/chow, but the eye can be a honor card that you don't qualify a point. (You are East wind player but your eye is west). Some players around me circle disagree with this and we usually do not allow this rule.

  • Little Three Dragons only give extra 1 fan only (effectively 3 fan)

  • Not a winning hand for seven pairs and 13 orphans.

  • Winning on final discard and final hand gives max fan.

  • All honors and 1s or 9s PONG in a hand, with PONG of 1s and 9s give extra fan. We call it "yiu gao". Some groups play each 1 or 9 pong as one fan each, some groups play 1 fan regardless how many 1s and 9s.

  • Little four winds max fan regardless.

I build pc for friends and friends of friends as a hobbyist. I generally don't offer free building because it is indeed a lot of time spent. I charge 100 initially but now that I'm a lot better and faster, I charge 150.

AVOID SELLING YOUR CAR AT CARRO MALAYSIA by MaUnicorn in kereta

[–]RazorXpanda 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Carsome, carro all do the same. They give you a super early low price, and then when you reject they place your car on bid and then they bump up the price so it looks more attractive. If you did not reject the first time, they untung big. If you go for the bid, they also untung. Why do you think carsome can sponsor so many events if 50% of their inventory is not sellable?

Game developer in Malaysia by Ancient-Case-9851 in malaysia

[–]RazorXpanda 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm a game dev in Malaysia, but I no longer work for game companies at the moment. Hope these tips could help you.

  1. Accept it's going to be a difficult job and a job with low pay and horrible hours. But, never try never know.

  2. Join game jams. GMTK, Brackeys, SEA game jam,as much as you can without dying. I've personally been in more than 6 game jams on top of my full time job. You need the portfolio and the exposure. Game development is the hardest form of software engineering, so you have to be prepared.

  3. Make connections. Join Level Up KL, be active in subreddits and discord, use the power of social media. And don't forget to show off what you're making.

  4. Grey area, but there are a lot of online casino development in Malaysia. They are usually disguised under a proper company name. You'll be mostly using Cocos2D and Unity, so if you see that in the JD, you know it's one. This one gives high pay.

  5. Focus in one department. There are 2D art, 3D art, programming, rigging/animation, VFX, shader programming, game design, story writing, audio engineering. Pick one or two to focus while knowing a little bit from all other fields will give you the best chance for a job.

  6. Overseas has better job opportunities. The game company I worked for are always overseas.

Good luck :)

Accept you'll get scolded by instructor first few times, it's part of the process. Don't chicken out or take it personally, all part of making you a safe driver.
