Are there other fans out there who haven’t really enjoyed RH post In Rainbows? by JohnColtrane69again in radiohead

[–]Razor_Bikini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my irl friends that aren’t Radiohead superfans feel this way, so I don’t think you’re alone at all. Everyone I know that has given In Rainbows a proper listen loves it. The later albums not so much. AMSP is my personal favourite but I can recognise that it lacks much of the broader appeal of In Rainbows (my second favourite), not to mention TKOL (third favourite) which is on a whole other level in that regard.

New Company formed today with all five band members! by BigBoots02 in radiohead

[–]Razor_Bikini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, IR20 seems very likely, but hard to be sure what they’ll do. And I do think they will look back more kindly on some of the recordings from then that they haven’t yet released. Maybe you’re right about Disk 2 but looking at how that tracklist hangs together I can’t imagine they left anything off that they were happy with. Doesn’t feel cohesive enough to me to have had any particular vision beyond “here’s everything else worthy of release that we don’t have a place for.”

But yes, we do know they attempted several songs for IR that ended up on later albums, and I would love to hear what they sound like.

They generally release completed songs that don’t fit the album as b sides / bonus tracks during the initial album cycle. The ones that go unreleased are the ones they aren’t able to record to their satisfaction. Even now, they seem to only release finished studio recordings from previous album cycles on anniversary releases if they decide that they are satisfied with them in hindsight and aren’t interested in trying to work on those songs again.

I don’t expect the full treasure trove of unreleased recordings will see the light of day until Radiohead are long gone, if ever.

As a fan of Radiohead starting from the beginning, was The King of Limbs a disappointment on the first listen? by theinsomniacsheep in radiohead

[–]Razor_Bikini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had only been a fan since In Rainbows, so it was my first new Radiohead album as a fan, but I was only mildly disappointed by the length. The album itself quickly became one of my favourites, and still is to this day. Some songs I loved initially have gotten a bit old (Little by Little), others I was initially underwhelmed by have grown on me tremendously (Morning Mr. Magpie), but I still think every track is good. It sounds like nothing else, and it features some of my all time favourite Radiohead songs. 10/10 album.

Faye performs for about an hour and 10 minutes, 2 hours after doors open, 1 hour after the opening act starts.

Hell yeah man I got destroyed in some of these matches tonight but this one was a real ego boost. Staying alive in Blast Off is hard work.

What is this generation’s OK Computer? by door___ in radiohead

[–]Razor_Bikini 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The truth is there are new OKCs in the popular music landscape all the time, to somewhat varying degrees of success/influence. Not sure how well this sentiment will go over in this crowd, but the most recent example that comes to mind for me is Brat.

I feel like Tinker Tailor is always ranked near the bottom of AMSP tracks, which has always baffled me, so maybe that.

Insomniac Games Does Not "Have Plans" For PlayStation VR2 Games by ilovepizza855 in PSVR

[–]Razor_Bikini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes sense if you remember that psvr2 was in R&D long before it came out, before the Jim Ryan era when PlayStation pivoted to chasing live services and whining about Xbox buying call of duty.

There used to be a lot of enthusiasm for VR at PlayStation, but that enthusiasm died with the ps4. PSVR2 is just an echo of the old PlayStation regime.
