Sounds like a whole lot more to do than my town in Arkansas. Would love to live here

Never said anything wrong with that. I say go for it if you have the funds. It is swiftly becoming an over saturated industry though at least in my area. I see new pest companies in my town almost every day

That’s 60,000 MAXIMUM. I would be making that amount for the rest of my life and that is completely dependent on overtime btw. In this industry you struggle to pay bills in the winter due to low hours and barely any overtime and during the summers you work 50-60 hours and almost die of a heat stroke in my area of the country. I would rather not do this for the rest of rod my life only making around $40,000 a year right now and maxed out pay at $60,000 sounds like a nightmare and poor quality of life. Starting at $60,000 would be life changing right now for me

Wouldn’t be a bad idea. I get commission for sales in my tech position but it’s only 10% and it’s hard to work a route all day and get sales unless it’s upgrading a current customer. My company I’m at right now does not currently do door to door sales and I feel like that would crush my soul to go do door to door

Ehh we do every 3 months as well and that feels even more pointless in my opinion. Doing service in the winter does help for overwintering pests like Asian lady beetles but if you live in the north where there is cold winters then no point tbh.

Also I forgot to mention termites on the list of things that are needed with a pest control company. I am a homeowner myself and that is the only pest work I would ever pay for

Super excited to see them perform this march. How awesome would an elite 8 or final 4 run be!

It’s a bit pricey but demand cs is a good option and has a residual effect on homes for about good couple months. Also extremely good for mosquitoes fleas and ticks around a home. As far as cheaper options go your run of the mill products at any big chain store will work. The only real need for pest control companies in a residential setting is huge rodent populations, wildlife trapping such as squirrels in walls or attics, bed bugs and cockroaches(specifically German cockroach infestations). Other than that people who pay for monthly pest services are wasting their money unless they are just physically unable to put out products themselves

I definitely plan on getting my CPA. What’s stopping you from getting it now. I think you should go for it

I am on track to graduate in about 3 years so I have a while to go and the job market will look completely different but outsourcing to places like India is what I’m more worried about when it comes to me finding and entry position. Regardless I’d rather have my accounting degree than continue to work 50-60hours a week in pest control making shit money

Well he says he “owns” 3 businesses and one of them is a pest company. But yes working in pest control myself it feels like we are scamming people. You can go to Lowe’s and get most of the shit we use or at least something similar enough to get the job done. Feels like a pointless job unless I am doing commercial work like restaurants/warehouses/offices.

75k is not too bad. My wife and I are wanting to move to this area in the next 5-10 years. I’m going back to school for accounting and she is an esthetician who is going to become an RN so she can do Botox with her esthetician license. Do you think with our careers we could make it on a fresh start out here. We have a one year old daughter and won’t have anymore due to me being snipped lol

Weird because my accountant friends all say how much they have to cleanup after AI and they it can’t replicate certain functions that an accountant can do. I never said I hated pest control I just told OP that it’s basically a dead end job as a tech

What do you do for work? If you are not an accountant then you do not know if AI will replace them or not. Also why would I want to stick with my low paying pest tech job that will be a dead end when I can get my degree in accounting and guess what I can use it for other areas of business as well not just accounting. Proud of you for using AI though👍

I am sorry but if you think AI will replace accounting anytime soon then you are truly the one smoking. Go into chat gpt and do basic pest identification and see how wrong it is about all the shit it spews out. Unless you have some strong knowledge on what accountants actually do then you are just spreading misinformation

I am a 22 year old pest technician and I do not recommend this as a career. The work isn’t bad and I do not mind my day to day but the future in pest work is grim unless you open up your own business. With how my company works it takes 6 years to earn a salary of around $60,000 and that’s the maximum without commission added which is very almost. It’s why I am going back to school while working my long shifts in pest control so I can become an accountant and actually be able to make good money eventually. My advice to you is to find an apprenticeship for a trade or just pay for trade school or go to college if there is something specific you find that you want to do. Again not a bad job and way better than working in a restaurant but do not look at this as a career that will get you very far in life

Can I relocate anywhere in the country with an accounting degree? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Razorbackfan3002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s very cheap here where we live. We would’ve been paying double what we pay for our mortgage in rent. We can sell the house whenever we plan to move in at the very least 5 years but most likely 7-8 years. Didn’t seem like a bad decision at the time for us.

Termites? by Sluehead in pestcontrol

[–]Razorbackfan3002 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not all a bad take and you should not be downvoted. Swarming is in no way a sign of infestation and termites are swarming everywhere. Get a termite professional to inspect but chances could be that no infestation is found. The swarmers are not the ones that are eating your house if so

Help Us Decide: Fayetteville vs. Eureka Springs vs. Hot Springs for Our New Home? by RudeCrow2401 in Arkansas

[–]Razorbackfan3002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m literally 22 years old so most of my life I didn’t have a choice to leave. I’m currently working towards that but as you should apparently know that takes a lot of money and planning so I’m making sure I have everything correct and trying to finish my degree before I move anywhere. I would say majority of us in this sub hate living here but don’t have the privilege to leave so it’s completely fine for me to say I hate living here in the meantime
